Poll: How Many seeds do you plant?

Say you open a new pack of 10 seeds. How many seeds do you plant?

All of them for sure. Perhaps not all will sprout, some will be runts, some will be males and maybe 1 or 2 will be keepers.

If I want to keep the strain then I keep mothers - less than 10 seeds is too much risk anyway unless it's feminized.

If you don't have room for all of the plants then it's another situation of course.

It just makes sense too me the way I grow, limited space, but enough to look for a pheno in ten plants before I toss a few and keep the pheno for cloning.Plus the male factor.

I want the pheno to start cloning with, then all the space in my cab is from her, and I get to pick between clones of her, to see wich is showing the most traits desired by me.

So i start with 10, so I can end up with one pheno, then clone and flower about 6 or 7.

i do 1/2 a pack i have a small grow space of 2ft x 2 1/2ft. if i have to abort for security reasons or whatever i still have 1/2 the pack left to work with.

I've never had a new pack of seeds so I didn't vote. When I do get a pack of new seeds to open, I'll most like plant 5-6. I don;t have the space or resources to keep a mother at the moment. I would also go for seeds on the grow and will start my collection. I don't have plans to hit the seedbay auction circuit selling seeds, but i think my own, unnamed seeds would fetch a fair price.

two 4 go to friends, so we will sure have a sprouted mom.
then i clone the girl, cuting the top and getting more branches on the way..
then i give the clones a week or two to catch up with the mom and i fill the scrog with flowers.
then i have 3-4 plants for the cost of 1 seed and 2 weeks of time...
and if anything goes wrong i have 5 more seeds.

I plant 'em all if I have the space at that moment. that way I can ensure that some amazing pheno isn't sitting in the fridge and to find the best male for future breeding.

depends on space and reputation of said beans...when i first get some ill run 3 to see what theyre like...ive germed 18 beans that way and only the 3 swt#3s didnt pop///this last time though i dropped 7 swt#3s 7 LOCxG13s and 5 bottle rockets to recieve 3 swts 1 LOC and 2 BRs out of the soil....all but the LOCs had taproots...if i didnt have a mini grow space id do 5 min out of atleast 3 diff packs/strains, that way i could see more tendencies, collect pollen, mother search,etc.

Along the same lines, I was wondering how you guys grow more than one type of weed. I'm not as advanced so there won't be any mothers or cloning.

I am going to make seeds of all the strains I recently purchased, and even with only 5 strains I'm counting 1-2 years to get this done growing one at a time, so I thought I could cut the time in half my growing out 2-3 at a time.

My issue I guess is how would I keep pollen from strain A from pollinating strain B. I can do 2 cabinets, but even then there a chance the pollens get mixed. One for the population of females, and one for the 2-3 males, but sooner or later I have to get the pollens from the males to the females. The second cabinet is much smaller than the current box I use and I don;t think it's large enough to hold 5 plants.

Maybe I'm thinking too much. Males continue to flower as long as they are under 12/12? As the male sacks burst I can collect pollen on a brush and transfer it to the right female?

Sticking to one strain at a time seems the most effective way to assure I get the seeds I am looking for.
