Hi all. I was able to get a PO Box recently. When filling out the forms I had to use real ID, unfortunately. So my real address is on the form. However, when filling out the forms there is another spot for other folks who are authorized to receive mail at the address. I listed a fictitious woman's name; who could of course be my wife or sister.

The place where I have the box at is not a Fedex or UPS store, nor is it at a US Post Office. Its simply a private shipper/mailbox store. The young woman at the counter instructed me to have the lady bring in ID whenever she comes in to receive mail. Do you all think they would pull all the mail with her name on it until she presents ID? Or do you think they would just place her mail in the box, and trust her to present ID when she gets around to it?

My idea is to send a birthday card, and probably some veggie seeds to the PMB in my name. Then send a letter from the boo or bay in her name. Go in myself and scoop up all the mail at once. I mean I got the key. The only problem is the place is small, and they don't have a lot of different workers. So the girl at the desk may remember me.

I currently have no grow going on at my place. I simply want to gather a collection of seeds so that I have solid genetics on hand when I feel confident of my growing skills, and environment (but am not necessarily in a hurry to get started anytime soon). I will most likely send a piece of dummy mail in her name just to see if it gets delivered or not. Just wanted to see if anyone else has any experience with this situation.

Thank you all for your experience and advice.

Seeds to a PO box are just fine. Send em in your ladies name, go pick the mail up when they arrive. Ez. If she asks where your lady friend and her ID are... Away on business, family etc.

Yeah, it shouldn't matter aslong as she is listed to use your PO BOX....Tell that chick to chill out, she's still getting paid either way...Whats wrong with people today?

I can honestly say... that over the many years of extreme paranoia... never once did I have/feel a problem... not once. Could've just highlighted my name, put an SSN on it, and mail it to my home in a neon-green envelope. Not that I regret my discretion, just a bit of overkill.

No one's coming to the box... send some porn there & no one will ever question it.

Don't need to bother w a fake name/id issues... just use your name w a phonetic variation in the spelling... no delivery issues.

I mean the box is your box... and if you did shit that brought about investigation to that box... pseudo-fake names isn't going to make any difference in the situation. Just making you feel better about it beforehand.

That is a super-extreme possibility. Just saying, chill... it will likely never be an issue... you will laugh in a few years! ;-) Be safe

i used to have a box for business. I registered under one business name but had mail sent there for 3 different companies, personal, and all sorts of stuff. It was all legal, no seeds or anything

Anything addressed to that box was put in.

The only thing held was what would not fit, or certified mail.

The only time I was asked for ID was if I forget my key and I asked them for the mail

at USPS boxes they deliver mail to the box regardless of who is on the form. i still get mail in my box for a towing truck company and some other random people who used to use the box. and when i have anything sketchy sent to the box..i dont use the registered name under the box. i use a fake business name, still gets delivered.

the thing you gotta watch out for is if the product doesnt fit into your PO, they will hold it at the counter and you gotta present ID< in that case you gotta be the registered name under the box. so get the biggest PO box possible so that doesnt happen.

Id go with the post office, as long as you have the correct address, your mail will come. Plus, seeds are not that big of a deal in the scheme of things, theres much bigger fish to fry at any given time.

Yeah at least the seeds will be in a false name if u put it in the girls name. And you dont need someone else to pick em up cus they will just be in yer box.U have the key open it and pick up the mail. You are over complicating things.

and keep the box busy...not just for those special orders. get some catalogs, magazines and anything else you can think up sent there to keep the box in use so when a 'real' package arrives it'll blend in. ebay stuff is also good for the box...

Yeah at least the seeds will be in a false name if u put it in the girls name.

Which is a federal and statutory crime and could drag in a completely innocent person.

And you dont need someone else to pick em up cus they will just be in yer box.U have the key open it and pick up the mail.

Which means regardless of the name, you are in possession.

You are over complicating things.

I agree. Ship it yourself, if this P.O Box is the route you wish to take, and assume the risk. It's part of the game and as long as you use the USPS, it always will be.

I would also agree with posters who point out that the risk is lowest at this level, increases in both reward and punishment exponentially from the seed purchase stage and that good use of time would be to spend a great deal more of it on preventing your grow from becoming evidence. :)

When I had a PO Box once (way way before I grew) they still delivered mail to the woman that had that particular box before me. Had I needed to I would have just sent something to that box with her name on it. I'm all about plausible deniability, and that method would give you a bit more than just using a completely fake name.

names do not matter, only the address. It will get there regardless of the name on the letter, so long as it will fit in the box. And yea, get junk mail sent there too to draw attention away from what you are really using it for. Safety first. Peace.
