Please help with placement/construction

Hola amigos,

After receiving some help about an intake for the situation (thanks MTF-sandman) I decided to make a scaled version of the biobucket growroom that was to be designed ... I'd like to get some of your opinions , yays or nays , ect ... The room is 11.5W x 9.5L x 8.5H ...

The Rez would most likely be between the Steam Heater and the buckets as this seems to be the best setup ... They might be moved back towards the east wall and down towards the south wall a little bit more as well because of the frame of visqueen they would be enclosed in ...

The windows would be boarded up with 5/8" inch thick drywall for sound proofing - density is everything in sound proofing.

#1. - The intake box you see in blue would be cut out of the floor , and have a duct below it that was connected to an outside window located in the basement. The thought was to place a super small intake fan to constantly blow a small amount of fresh c02 into the sealed room(for the most part) and also to prevent from scent and whatnot from leaking through the passive intake - thus the fan serves a dual purpose.

#2. - The plan would be to construct an outer wooden frame lined with visqueen plastic to help in regulating temp, scent, airflow, ect ... I'm curious as to how far or close the frame walls should be from the buckets as there is only got a couple of feet ... thoughts ??

#3. - that is an exact scale of the scrubber that would be used and the plan was to have it exhaust near the intake but up and into the above floor where it would either go another floor up into the addic or just disperse into the above room but the thought is that if it were to go right up to the addic and have it breathe out there that it would be best ... From that ceiling to the addic would probably be around 10 ft. from the ass end of the exhaust is that too much ?? Also the would be to hang the exhaust fan (8" vortex - quiet?) from the ceiling by bungee cords so that the sound wouldn't vibrate so much. Would keeping the exhaust fan seperated from the scrubber by ducking be a bad move ? The assumption is that if the exhaust fan is connected to the scrubber which is bolted to the ceiling with some type of brackets then the vibration would be overly loud ... would running ducting from the exhaust to the scrubber be effecient enough for scrubbing ??

So i'm thinking maybe the scrubber could go by the door on the ceiling or go 90 degree's and have it run Along the North window , on the ceiling and then run ducting to where the intake box is , cut a hole in the ceiling there and go up ... Thoughts ?? Is there some type of strategic formula on the best placement for a scrubber ??

General constructive imput is appreciated ...

Thanks

~ Dream

PS. Any advice on brackets that could be used to hold up a 70lb. scrubber ??

I would say that Youre sound proofing idea sounds good. You have alot of room to work this, those dimensions make me jealous. I would suggest having the carbon scrubber opposite of your intake, so that it draws the fresh air across the room completely, Also you want the scrubber up high and near your sources of heat so that it draws out the hottest air first. It wouldnt be a bad idea to have ducting run from hte scrubber to the fan but make sure it is a straight shot if the scrubber isnt directly on the fan. Any twist or turn youll lose cfm flow and with a huge room you dont want that. Just remember with ventilation more air flow is better, you can always slow it down or lose some through the ducting.

Any updates? This is basically the number of buckets I'm about to put together as well. My room is a little smaller but not much and there is no window(finished basement) :joint:

Sorry your not getting much help.wish I were better at this kinda stuff. One thing you may want to consider though is instead of boarding up the window, installing a window AC instead. You never know really if you may need it its a good way to have control of your temps.Yea a window unit and an airking 3 speed wall mount oscillating fan mounted right under it works really well for me,my room is just slightly smaller at 8 ft cubed

I sat put it right on the corner when u walk in to the right... and if you want to get all fancy you could just put it overtop your plants...flat along ciling

Hola amigos,

@ ballastman - thanks for the sympathy , I was saying to myself "wow im surprised more people dont have something to say ?" oh well , its all good.

As far as the A/C goes the idea was to build a window type box into the frame of visqueen plastic that would enclose the buckets. Basically if the temps are cool outside already than there's not much of a need for an A/C so if the temps did warm up and it was needed then it would get tossed into the window-esq box in the frame.

Also - I was thinking for when the outside temps are cold , like they get in winter 20 degree's farenheit and such - would it be a good idea to vent the intake air directly through the AC ports of the reflectors and then have the back reflectors with open ends - this way the cold air mixes with the hot air and kind of balances things out ??

I was thinking temps of that level may be TOO cold #1. they could crack the bulbs maybe and #2. since its that cold it may end up just dropping the temps in the room to something horrible for the plant health.

@ kushking - I was think similar placement right near the door would be best too ...
