Hi, I lurk here in this forum a lot, but this is the first time I've had to make a thread.
Here we go:

SOIL, OUTDOOR

How long has this problem been going on? Last 3 weeks.

What STRAIN are you growing? Mandala Satori + Hashberry, Sensi Skunk #1, FMS Zamal x Skunk, Nirvana Snow White, MOD Menage a Trois.

What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?) Seed.

What is the age of your plants? About 2 months.

How Tall are the plants? From 1ft to 3 ft.

What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in? Veg

What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc) Topping

What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot) In ground, holes about 1.5ft cubed.

What substrate/medium are you using? What brand of soil mixture are you using?(percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?) Generic store soil, added to local clayish soil and amended with perlite, peat moss, dolomite lime, some slow release organic nutes.

What Nutrient's are you using? How much of each with how much water? How Often? *Knowing the brand is very helpful* "Yuuki 100 bai" - Organic liquid nutes, approx 0.3 0.5 0.3 NPK, diluted 200x, used once since transplanted to ground. Applied molasses once, approx 1 tbsp. / gallon.

What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used? No idea.

What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"? No idea.

What method of pH test was administered? Using Strips? pH pen? None.

How often are you watering? At least once/week, last couple of weeks been raining at least one/two days per week, so haven't hand watered.

When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding? Last feeding about 3 weeks ago. Were fed twice before transplant.

What size bulb are you using? outdoor
What is the distance to the canopy?
What is your RH Factor? (Relative Humidity)
What is the canopy temperature?

What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include fluctuation range) 15-25 celsius

What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.)
Is the fan blowing directly at plants?

Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist? No.
Is your water HARD or SOFT? Don't know.
What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water? Tap water, usually left out at least 24 hours.

Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched? topped (attempted FIM) about 2 weeks ago.

Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when? garlic/pepper spray at seedling stage, neem oil applied at recommended strength (about 5ml/L) three times, once a week as foliar spray. Area around plant cleared of foliage and slug pellets and tobacco-based bug deterrent put down.

Are plant's infected with pest's? Possibly, theres a lot of creepy crawlies around my plot.

OK, I know everyones wants a photo, and I will take some asap. The link in my sig goes to my grow but I don't have any close-ups of the affected leaves yet.

Basically, the problem is large holes in my leaves. On some leaves it looks as is they have been torn to shreds almost. The holes are quite large, I haven't seen this before and at first I thought that maybe hard rain had torn the leaves or something. The problem spread however, and now all of my outdoor plants are affected to some degree. The worst is the Menage a Trois (its also the biggest, and has been outside the longest). I don't think its a large animal, although the holes are pretty big, as a plant on my roof has started to show the same holes.
Neem has not seemed to help atm.

I plan to completely clear the leaves and stuff anywhere near the plant, atm a circle around the plants of about 1m radius is cleared. Theres a heap of bugs that live in the leaves, I'll try and take a pic. They could be the cause, but I don't know what type of bugs they are, and what they eat.

Also, the damage is kind of random in terms of location. Some at the top of the plants, some near the bottom. To sum up, outdoor Japan, v large holes in leaves, otherwise healthy and vigorous. No huge obvious insect infestations, but I tend to ignore a nibble here and there.

Thanks for the quick reply, you're probably right, grasshoppers are big enough to eat such large holes. I haven't seen any around, though.

Does neem also work for grasshoppers? I`ve been using neem oil weekly for about 2 weeks or so, diluted to the manufacturers recomendations...

Will have a look for some anti-grasshopper tips.

Hey, just checking in to let you know that I've kept up the neem treatment, cleared a bigger area around the plants where there were some bugs in the leaves, and there doesn't seem to be any new attacks so far. Its my only problem atm, and its very minor.
Just gotta keep up the neem I suppose.

GDB: Oh, don't worry, slugs and snails are number one on my hitlist. Snails infested my plants last year (different plot) and mold then proceeded to infest all the sites they ate...
scummy fucks with their house on their back...think they're so cool and slimy...I'll show them...*trails off into mumbling*
