Ive red a small bit about scrog and stuff, and was wondering can some one tell me alot more about the 2 methods of growing and will I get much more bud off the plants ? Thanks again in advance

There is way too much to talk about and way too many variables that affect yield

If you are using a smaller light, then a scrog is optimal, but there is something to be said about the LST method as well.

I guess the easiest way to give you some info would be to find out some variables that you have
Lights? pot size? how many plants?, room size? etc

deefirl,

Hello! This is an excellent oppertunity for me to review some information. Here we go...

SCROG ( Screen of Green) Method:

Basically you are optimizing you light usage by bringing the plants to an even plane that is representitive of your light. After your plants get to about 8", top them. Then bring in a screen that sits about 9" from the base of the plants. Now when the plants grow back to 9" or higher, start weaving them into the screen. Never let anything grow higher than 9" and keep the light 6" from the screen at all times(or however close you can get you light. 6" is a conservative estimate for a 250W). Most efficient use of lighting. When the screen is like 80% full veggin, start flower. then about 1-2 weeks into flowering, when the stretch slows, let them start growing up though the screen. Rather than having one main cola per plant you will have like 20. Good times.

SCROG

LST (Low Stress Training) Method:
Very similar to SCROG in the end result, only difference: no screen. Here you are goign to tie down the main branch to where it is below all other bud sites. This will redistribute hormones, tricking the plant to thinking it has several leading growth tips. More budsites up top = more bud in the end. The tutorial below is good on explaining this with pictures.

Hope that helps! Happy growing!

sure, I am in a typing mood

OK so lets say you were going to grow 4 plants using the scrog method

Most plants I have grown double in size in flower, so a 2 ftt tall veg plant, will be a 4 ft flower plant, the idea here is to keep the growth growing along a set canopy height, removing all vegetation below the screen, the theory here is that the buds will grow ontop of the screen, allowing the plant to concentrate on growing the colas as opposed to the smaller popcorn budsites. Very important here that you have already sexed your plants, as unweaving them from the screen is nearly impossible.

Using Lst
More to get a bushy plant other than a normal tree shaped plant. Done in veg time, causes side shoots to grow upwards, adding more bud sites to be colas, a longer veg is optimum here to really allow stems to get thick.

Both methods are similar, but for your height I would suggest trying a scrog, take a foot off for light, and a foot for pot levels so that leaves you with 3 feet to grow.

Run a search on some examples of what people have done.
There are some really neat designs out there

Very good point, Dr Dog. YOU MUST HAVE ALREADY SEXED YOUR PLANTS! Otherwise you'll be in serious trouble with the males and females tightly packed and co-mingling like that.

I accidently stumbled onto LST in the back yard 20 some years ago. The plant threatened to overgrow the 6 foot fence so I bent it over and tied it down. The shoots went nuts and soon, they threatened to overgrow the fence so I tied them down. Those shoots went nuts and fortunately, I was saved by the growing season as they stopped just shy of the fence. I ended up with a 12'x8'x6' block of bud. Took me years to smoke, probably gave half of it away.

Sorry, no pics.

deefirl - If you want more pics of stuff, check out those links to SCROG grows I post above. It is an encyclopedia to SCROG growing, tons of pics. And best part is, they are all divided up by wattage. THat means you can get a really good idea of what is going to happen under your lights. That forum is where i learned to SCROG.
