there are 8 plants under a 1000w hps in 3g buckets and they stopped growing. Three weeks and no change their still about 1ft tall. Its at about 6 weeks of veg. What is the issue?
3 gallons is a mighty big bucket in my opinion for such small plants. how big was the pot they were in prior to going to 3Gallon? you may have some root development issues.
im no expert but it might be shock from such a small container to a larger one...id assume a 3 gal is its final destination? I might add a 1 gal after the cups and before the 3 gal...
aftet transplanting the plants roots reach out for the sides then grow to botttom of container. when roots hit bottom of container i've noticed the plant grows again
I think that is why they aren't growing. You should have gone to some intermediate size pot(s) before 3 gallons.
Since there is no root system to speak of compared to that 3 gallon pot volume...it takes a long time for the soil to dry out enough for air/O2 to get in there. This effectively robs the plant's roots of oxygen and will stunt growth.
If you grow in something like a 75% perlite 25% vermiculite mix that drains quickly and has lots of air spaces...then you can transplant like you did...or that's my humble opinion.

the stunt will end when the roots are in a corolation with the pot size again.
just relax and they will be good again , just don't do many drastic things now "trying to heal the plant" and actualy might kill her on the way.
i did it in my first run: stupid misstake...
good luck!

I should have added that if you leave them in the 3 gallon pots, be very careful about watering. If you saturate that 3 gallon pot, you may have overwatering problems. Keep an eye out for yellowing leaves that look kinda soft and wimpy...and other signs over overwatering.
I would also recommend holding off on nutrients until your plants show signs of growing well again. Right now they are not growing and so adding nutrients is not advisable at this time IMO. You'll build up nutes in that large 3 gallon soil base and then you will have REAL problems.
Other than that, be patient as said above and hopefully they will be OK.
yeah you dont want to overdose them on nutes. If they arent growing with nutes, let them go with some water, it should get things going and flush out the pot if its too saturated. Since there arent many roots and you feed them with nutes, those nutrients will accumulate in the places where there is no root development, and once the concentration goes up too high, it could kill your plant or offset the ph in the pot. Have you been keeping track of pH of the water/feed?
Its winter there?... its a lot of soil... if its cold in there...
Hearing your good condicions, the only reason that i found is simply overwhater!!!
Very easy on these condicions you describe and one of the few things that acctually stops theyr grow.
Happened to me on my sensistar (easely) in the veg 3 week ago... It stood there for a week, then after transplant and no whatering for more than another week she finally woke up!!
In the between i feeded her pulverizing whater in the leafs!
When i saw the roots, they werent even very wet... they were just wet and cold!
