Planting straight to potting soil bag

Hello everyone this is my first post here, though I have been a member of cannabis culture and overgrow for several years. I was wondering instead of making holes in the ground or carrying around pots why can't you just bring the bags of soil, make some drainage holes and holes to drop the seeds/seedlings in? Has anyone tried this before? I would think as long as you disquised the bag (spray paint, dirt, underbrush, etc) that this would be a fairly easy and effective method, but how would this affect the roots, since there would be little verticle space for the roots to grow would this cause root bind or make the plant tip over easily? :chin: ehh maybe it would be just as easy using grow bags. Also what is the best soil to use standalone (without having to add anything extra like castings or perlite)IYO?

It will work. You would need to cut a large hole on the upper side so that rainwater could wet the soil and oxygen could get in for the roots. You'll have to water once or twice a week, and be sure to soak the whole thing. Definately want to cut lots of drain holes.

Fox Farm is a good place to start if you want a fertilized soil premix.

Since grow bags are more vertical, they may have better drainage, allowing more oxygen to the roots.

yeah, I think I'll try this method, all that digging can wear me out fast so how many sq ft should I dedicate to each plant to get a plants at least 3-4 feet?

If you have them at a site with full sun, and plant in spring , they will easily get 4 ft tall. Give them as much room as you can but you could get by with 3x3.
