Planter Size?

Thinkin about switchin out my planters to these Air-Pots. Got a buddy that's been killin it with these things. Wanted to see what you guys thought about planter size tho. I'm runnin DTW coco w/loop manifolds on 4x8 tables, 32 planters per table. Leanin towards 2 or 3 gallons. Using 3 gallon mesh bottoms now. Thinkin that might be overkill with the Air-Pots tho. FWIW, the 2 gallon Air-Pots only hold 1.2 gallons of medium, and the 3s only hold 2.2. Thanks for the time.

IME 2 gallons is good for most indoor grows. I have experimented with 1-3 gallon pots and settled on 6 liter square pots. I tried fabric pots but found that the roots would get too cold and slow growth and water intake. Never tried airpots but I wouldnt go above 3 gallons with coco unless youre growing trees.

Thx for the response, yeah, I'm leanin towards the 2 gallon pots. I've tried both the 8" mesh bottoms as well as the 10s. I keep referring to these as being 2 and 3 gallons, but this is incorrect. The 10" pots come out to be just over two gallons IIRC. Seem to get better results with the 10s over the 8s.

Guy I mentioned before's supposedly hittin 3lbs/light, but he's only runnin like 15 plants/4x8 table w/giant air-pots (think they're the 5 gallon ones, might even be bigger tho dk). FWIU he's toppin em like crazy, bushin em out and graduating through several smaller pots before they hit the big air-pots. Sounds like a pain in the ass, lot less clones to cut though, and I like the idea of keepin my overall plant #s down just for safety and all. Always been under the impression that lots of small plants will often yield better then a few big ones, but now I'm startin to wonder. Was buzzin through Jack's thread, and he seems to be doing something similar with the giant fabric pots w/several monsters in each. Don't have a whole lotta clearance overhead though with the raised tables. Would really have to top em like crazy to keep from getting burnt. Jst tryin to get my shit straight here before I put out the cash for these things. Thanks for the time.

Edit: Said I'm leanin towards the 2 gallon air-pots, I mean the ones that hold 1.2 gallons of medium.

I consider 32 plants per 4x8 tray a lot. With a plant per sq ft, youre not going to be able to train the plants much. Thats a pretty high density.

I run 5 plants under 600w in a roughly 3'x3' area. I top, tie, pinch, bend and prune my way to as even a canopy as I can get with as many tops as possible. All undergrowth gets pruned. It isnt too much work. I tend to my plants everyday so it is just a matter of doing a little every time I see them.

I have tossed the higher numbers/smaller plant thing around in my head but it seems like more work to me.
