plant seed upside down?

lol i know its a stupid question n please dont flame me lol. but if i germd my blueberry seeds and the taproot was just startin to come out, if i put em in the dirt upside down will they still grow to the top and come out the dirt?

very interesting question

very interesting question

i had the same question a while ago....i planted some without really taping them into the soil just by burring which resulted in several growing downward
instead of up, dumped the pot and sifted thre it to discover several that had grow to the bottom within its shell with the root coming out the top! :badday:

my friend that is the proper way to plant...the tap root will grow over and pull the husk off on the way up...peace

yeah seriously dude where do you live? Eerie, Indiana ? plants always grow away from gravity. you can put the seed in upside down side to side and in between the top will always grow up and the roots always down.

upside down makes ur babies work more to see the light = stronger babies thats what ive heard

with my latest batch i planted the taproot down, came out fine. I honestly dont think it matters- in nature when seeds are blown helter skelter they land every which way and still grow fine.... as ronley said :joint:

when i plant seeds ive allways planted tarpit up 1inch below surface, yes the root will grow upward some then do a 180 degree U turn and grow down. this will force the shell off the seedling 98% of the time as it sprouts the dirt pulls the seed shell off. this method of planting also i believe helps to produce a stronger rootmass and plant stem production.

i planted em bout a half inch down. maybe an inch. they havent broke the dirst yet, but its only been one day since the seed cracked and i put em in the dirt. so hopefuly tomorrow they are out of the ground :) thanks guys i was kinda gettin worried and didint wanna have to sift thru a gallon of dirt lol.

IME, 1" is a bit on the deep side. As most of the others have said, the sprout will take care of itself. (In nature, when seeds fall to the ground, they don't always land right side up.)

btw im growing 2 of them. bot germed waiting for em to sprout. so my next question is if im in a 28 inch tall cab using a 150w hps how much bud u think ill get form the two blueberry plants if i top and lst them?

about 3lbs per plant.

seriously no one knows. but i grew 1 plant under bad conditions in a rubbermaid with 120W of CFL and got like 1/3 to 1/2 oz dry. Just remember you lose 80% of the plants weight when you dry it.

I agree with brinthor, though it makes little difference planting tapseed up the root will immediately do a 90 degree turn going straight down removing the husk as its flipped up through the soil if that makes any sense. It really doesnt matter lol
