hi, i've got a NL thats been flowering for 10 weeks
picture.php

it's more than ready, but the trics are still 50% clear, some milky and not many at all amber. i left the dead leaves on for the photo to show it is finished (that's my excuse anyway ;)

does this happen sometimes?? - is anyone going to tell me to wait longer??
im inclined to harvest it anyway...

any thoughts would be welcome

why not take some at 70 days n the rest in a week or 2 as it ambers up a bit???
myself if i see very many amber i pull it usually unless its obvious that the trichomes r still developing and/or the calyxes r still swelling

Peace

Is she still throwing out white hairs? Take those dead leafs off asap... it doesnt signify the plant is done in any way, shape or form. Leafs die all the time... we pick them off nightly.

With that said... if you really saw a few ambers you could harvest it now. I personally like to wait untill 5 or 10% trichs are amber. 5% for an indica dominant, and 10% for a sativa.

How are the calyxes? Are they swollen?

BubsNugs - the 10 week mark came and went a couple days ago!

hi koNY, not really throwing out white hairs. as for the dead leaves, i grow organically and like the plant to run out of food so it uses it's food reserves stored in the leaves - i beleive the smoke is better and smoother this way. so the leaves yellowing and dying are, for me, one sign that it is finishing. you are right i should pick them off but i like the plant to suck them dry first. my ventilation is good so i never get any mold issues.

last time i ran this NL cut (dr atomics) i took it at 60 days and it was lovely smoke. this time i havent really had a chance to harvest it and i had others to do first so its been left longer. the calyxes are swollen too.

so is it more important to see 5-10% amber or for the clear ones to go milky??

is it that i am using a 250watt and the trics dont degrade as quickly?? - i have had this before and im not just impatient - i usually let the plants go way past their 'official' finish time.

Yah seriously. I saw you post this photo in the yield/guano thread and meant to say something there.

Amazing looking plants man. I just had to say something . . . AMAZING

VerdantGreen, Man I have been searching and searching for a answer to this same question. I have one plant left in my shed grow. It is huge. About 80% of the pistols are still white and Tricomes are mostly clear, no amber. this plant has just hit 100 days of 12/12.

I got clones backing up waiting to be put in. I really want this to finish I just dont' know how long I can wait since it is just a bagseed plant.

I am thinking of taking it down this weekend since it is taking up ove half my screen.

i chopped it on 10 weeks. most of the trics were a little bit milky.it's dry and in the jars now and it turned out to be a great yield - my personal best!

asil - if the pistils are still white as well it may need a bit longer-always a tough call outside. sometimes in my greenhouse i find that the trics are milky and amber even though the pistils are still 50% white - in that case i would chop them but if the trics are still clear too give em longer if you can. some strains take till november and more at my 55 lattitude.
