Plant & Aquarium Tube Light

I bought two 40 watt, 48" tube lights (fluorescent?). It says it is made for indoor plant growth and aquarium plant growth. The light gives off sort of a pink/red/organge color. I can't afford an HPS right now - will this work? Anyone else ever tried these? Any information is much appreciated. Thanks!

They will work for seedlings and clones. Once your plants get bigger you will need to provide more light, at the very least a few more flourescents. You could just mix warm (reddish) and cool (bluish) tubes instead of buying the more expensive plant bulbs. Hope that helps. Peace...

hey organic, I use those kind of bulbs for keeping my plant in stasis.
It makes the plants grow really really slow.

Thanks for the info. I can't afford $250 for an HPS, any suggestions for something cheaper but still effective? Also, I'm using Fiji Water. Any thoughts on that?

well first all...stop spending so much money on that Fiji water... and use that money to get some CFLs if you cant afford a HPS. THough Ebay has 400W for 99$ i think.

If you're using only cfls then you should do LST. Should even out the light better on the plant maybe. And definatly more lights could never hurt.
