Planning first indoor grow

Hey all.....Been growing outdoors for a few years and now I think it's time to also grow indoors.

What I need to have is something stealth and effiecient. I was thinking maybe making one of the dressers in the room into a cabinet....would be very stealth, it's maybe 3ft tall x 1 1/2ft deep x 4ft wide so about 18 cubic feet of space. What would be the best lighting/growing setup?

i wanna say a 400 watt HPS but im pretty sure u will have sum heat issues. a few years back i had a veg-cab me+ my dad built that was 2x3 and 4 feet tall...we had 2 70 watt HPS and 1 175 watt MH in there and were able to control the heat with only 2 6 inch radioshack computer fans...1 on the bottom pulling in fresh air and 1 on top exhausting hot old air...temps were around 78-82 F. and cab ran 24 hours continually. a 400 would produce nice buds in a tight space but i think heat would be an issue...a 250HPS might go well and be a nice overall light for the entire cycle.

ya that looks like it would suit u pretty good...as far as silence i dont know first hand, but im sure that's one of the big hurdles when setting up a stealthy grow...no matter wat ur gonna need some type of fan/air circulation...and even with a 250 u gonna need to exhaust the hot air sumwhere...maybe getting a small inline fan and hangin it from bungee cords and surrounding it with sum kind of insulation or sound deadener...but i dunno for sure thats a tough 1 lol...

2 ft florescent fixture @ any home improvement store or ebay!
Industrial blue bulbs also.

That light looks good... it will make a low hum though!

ya u could just fill the cab with flourecents and mite have a good turnout...i didnt have good results the only 2 times i grew w/ floros but lots of people get great yield + bud quality from all floro's...u just need alot of em to equal a HPS light but ya they r much less hot and quieter sumtimes too.

cooling a cabinet is much like cooling the inside of a computer case.
120mm(6inch) fans demolish 80mm fans. 120's also make about half the noise of an 80, although because this isnt a PC that your sitting with you wont have to worry much about sound.

Always use negative pressure within a confined space to vent heat.
So all except one fan should be blowing out of the cab. A fan on the bottom pulling cool air from the floor level is a wonderful idea! Might get a little dusty over time, no reason a cover made out of pantyhose for the fan wont work fine.

you should go for the best setup you can afford thx more Watts the better plants and yields...
in a small cab you best use a cooltube and vent that goes with it...best to suck out tha temps while its produced....small cabs tend to get hot verry quick even with a hps of 125W and/or a 250 hps

i just made me 1 but this is a vegroom 24/7 and the room is preheated so i use fluro's to veg them them..

if you just add a cooltube where the fluro's hang and make a hole for the vents outtake your almost finished..you can even decide if you hang the vent inside or outside...

importent thing you should NOThave any lightleaks..it wil Fook you grow up ...

I have until the end of November to sex this plant...Dec 1st I will be in my new house and would like to know whether or not to buy the HPS right away

if your realy know what you want and if it fits the closet that you wanne make ...you should go ahead
but its not only a lamp, seeds and nutes you need...there's more two it than that....
