Planning and need advice

I am brand new to growing and this will be my first attempt. My wife and I live in WA and have been smoking for 25+ years and finally decided to try to grow for ourselves. Why we waited so long is anybodies question but last year we started looking at grow cabinets.

Last year we looked at the Super closet but the price kept us away. Whether right or wrong ( I hope right ) we purshased the following:

http://www.fullbloomhydroponics.net/2-x-4-gorilla-grow-tent-package/

with germination package, the MH bulb and the full nutrient package. I am still awaiting delivery but it should be here in the next 2 weeks.

I have also purchased and received the following:

Barneys Farm LSD Feminized - 05 seeds
Green House Seeds Kalashnikova Feminized - 05 seeds
Humboldt Seed Organisation Pineapple Skunk Feminized - 05 seeds

freebies: all singles
FEMINIZED UFO #1 Positronics Seeds Blue Rhino
FEMINIZED UFO #2 Positronics Seeds Caramel Ice
FEMINIZED UFO #3 World of Seeds Medical Collection Northern Lights x Skunk
FEMINIZED UFO #4 T H Seeds Critical HOG
FEMINIZED UFO #5 Dinafem Seeds White Widow AUTO
Humboldt Seed Organisation Trainwreck
Greenhouse Seeds Auto Sweet Mango

I think I have read enough the last few months planning for this that I'm confident enough to do this, I am just a bit hazy about a few things setting up the 16 slot hydro unit it comes with and would love any advice I could get. I am not sure which of the strains I bought to use and how exactly to get from seed to veg(questions below) especially with the one space to grow in.

Would I pop one or two of the seeds and then veg them enough to get all 16 clones for my set up? Would I just chose 16 seeds and pop them all and fill all sixteen slots on my hydro unit? or do I only need to use 8 of the 16 units? I tried to make sure the plants at least the ones I ordered were similiar growing times and strains but this we done with my newb mind so I may of made crazy decisions. I think once I get them going I understand the rest I just cant wrap my head on how to begin. Any thing you could point me too or any advice anyone would lend would be greatly appreciated and I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to post this or I missed the info elsewhere.

Can't wait to get started....thanks in advance, Applemaniac

Where to start?! You can probably veg your first run in there, then switch to flower, but after that you are going to need another space to do your veg in.

Start all 15 of the fems you ordered after that you will probably wind up with 10. Veg them out till you can get 2 clones from each then flip to flower. You won't have all your spaces filled but thats no big deal. After a few rounds decide what strain(s) you want to keep then clone as you go from there. Your going to want them small so pretty much once the clones are rooted you can flower them. Your going to run into flushing problems most likely running more than one strain in the same system.

I think the hydro unit will be to small for flowering. Maybe good for rooting and veg but may not work for flowering.

Like socialist said its up to you how many strains you want to mess with at one time, personally I would pick one of your fem strains, pop all five seeds, grow up enough to get clones (always clone extras) and go from there. Then see if you find something special in that bunch, if not move to next strain. GL, OG

Like others have said, you will face many challenges and have a hard time trying to bloom in that "germination" unit.

It isn't what yer gonna wanna hear...but I'd use that cloner for clones and would go into dirt for flower. If you try to bloom in that unit and anything dies you will be unable to untangle the roots and there will be problems. (dead roots aren't good)

Flush the Rockwool before trying to germ/grow in it. run tap water through the cubes for 10 minutes BEFORE dooing the presoak to 5.5. This will keep the pH from rising and your plants from yellowing/going South a few weeks after hitting the cubes.

Dunno if you have the ways and means and lights and space to have a full op going and keep moms and clones/etc... if not.....just pop seeds and replace the seeds later/re do it all if you find strains you love and want to preserve/grow exclusively.

Also...read up on HERMIES and know what they look like. SOME fems can be unstable/tricky, and with multiple selections going at one time it can be hard to determine who is screwing around if pollen starts to drop or you see seeds down the line in your buds.

Lots of factors in play. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

good luck. exciting stuff....

If you've grown a vegetables/flowers/etc. before, you'll have a leg up. But, I would suggest that for a first time, use bagseed. Don't mean to sound like a Negative-Nancy, but you will make mistakes and growing bagseed is good for a practice run. It gives you a better idea of what to expect and there is less pressure to succeed than with expensive genetics. Just my :2cents: and lol...worth the paper it's written on.

Thanks for all the replies....still waiting for the kit to come. I am jumping at the bit to get growing but I am assured it should be here soon. After reading your replies and reading grow journals of people using the same hydro unit as I am, I have decided to grow four plants on each side and only use two strains. For now I will have to use what I have at hand and we will see how we do. Depending on that will determine whether I get a bigger tent to flower in next time and use the current one for veg or buy a smaller veg tent and keep this one for flowering. I found a lot of people that had real good results with this hydro unit but they recommended limiting the strains as well. I'm thinking I will put the pineapple skunk on one side and the Kalishinakova on the other, from all the info I can find they should have similiar flowering times and growth. Thanks for everybody's input, Applemaniac
