Planning a grow, can I get some security tips?

I have somewhat of a plan set up for my near future within the next year or 2, and I would like to figure out any security issues before I continue on planning.

Basically I plan to get a home-loan for a house that's secluded and not in a neighborhood. Live there, and have about 40-50 plants growing year round, maybe harvest 3x per year. Say 25 plants in each of 2 rooms with 1-2 1000k lights in each room. I'd pay my power bill on time, house would be well ventilated and constantly filtered, with the powerful fans having soundproofing around them. Walls sound proofed so fan noises are isolated, and the rooms being grown in would be tented to isolate the smell to those rooms.

I would have practically no company over to the house, I am not a very social person. I would tell no body of this, not even my nearest friends. I would ensure no odd sounds can be heard outdoors, no light leaks, no smell leaks, etc.

Does anybody see potential issues that could arise to me getting caught? Any extra precautions I could take? The only issue I could see actually arising would be the power company snitching on me... but they wouldn't do that for $200-300 extra in my bill would they? I've heard this usually only happens if someone tips you off first. But either way, a legitimate excuse would be that I host servers from my house that use 2000-4000w of power and are running 24/7(I actually used to do this)

Edit:

One concern of mine would be minimizing odor escape from the room tents when I go to check on the plants. Does anyone have any tips that may help for this?

locked gates with large, smart dogs is the first step. No one can know. Loose lips sink ships is still true. Best to not have any visitors at all. Hidden security cameras to know when anyone at all might do something suspicious.

How would you get rid of your product?Maybe thats your weak link?

I have a friend who shuts down everything while he's moving his product, and when it's all gone then he starts up and does another run.

buddys got a good point, but odor control is a must

idont know if you ever heard an 8-10-12 inch inline fan but there loud as shit, try to be creative on hiding you intakes and exhaust
you mite want to consider doing a couple trees per 1kwith the rite traing and veg you can easily hit 2lbs per lite plus less plant numbers

I have it covered :)

Very good point.

I had a 4 inch one and it sounded like a Jet Engine lol. Though lately I've come up with some inventions of my own that make them completely silent.

It's basically building a box with sound proof materials around it. It cost no more than $50 and can make it completely silent. The only exception would be the whooshing sound of the air, which could be taken care of in a similar fashion. Sound proofing material is very cheap.

I'm ultimately aiming for a minimum of 8-10lbs per harvest every 4 months. That may be a bit of stretch since I've never done indoor, but I figure I could figure it out somehow.

that do it
your gonna need a minum of 10 k to start dwc or coco is your only option for quick turnarounds.

ditch the tents they will be more of a problem then there worth
1k for 4x4 area and hope for a pound first run
ventelation is an absolute must unless you want to go sealed with co2,that will help with odor.
im set up to hit 2lbs per month and it took about year to get it dialed in so take that into consideration
if you cant move the weight though i would scale down

get your layout and electical in order first
run evey ballast 240 and think flip flop flower rooms with 1 dedicated to veg:ying:

waste of time and time=$ ifyour gonna play the game this wont work cuz it'll take you 70-90 days to harvest cut dry etc.. no money to be made that way

The 4 L's...

#1 Don't Smell. Go overboard on air scrubbing and odor control in any non-medical state.. and even in some of those. Use natural oil scents to cover that which escapes from your tent during maint. Chems are bad and taint the product.

#2 Don't Tell. No one outside the residence should know you grow. Period. This doubles in importance when additional people are in residence.

#3 Don't Sell. To be truly off the radar, you never sell to anyone... ever.

#4 Don't Yell. This applies to you, your housemates and your neighbours. If anyone around is a drama person and could possibly call the cops or be involved in a domestic dispute... you do not want to grow there. Too many "Oh crap... wrong address" busts by police because the neighbour was a p.o.s....

I use 8 inch insulated ducting SHOVED INSIDE 12 inch insulated ducting, for the parts outside my tent. Silent bro, no sound of moving air louder than a small house fan. :)

Overkill on smell and silence is well worth it.

good advice coming in here, follow it all!

Make sure you have a fence surrounding the property. doesnt have to be tall or a privacy, just a fence. Just incase you ever run into trouble, having a fenced in property can really help you out in the court room. Dont forget the "no trespassing" signs.

Hydro-Soil pretty much just nailed that on the head! And it looks like youve got a good grasp on what youre doing as well OP.

One thing I may add is IR. Not sure of your location either.
Where do you plan to dump your heat off? Thats another thing to be thinking about as well. check out some youtube videos on FLIR.

Reflect the heat back in from the room itself (tents are great for this)
and DIFFUSE the exhausted air.

Those into it for medicine don't have a problem with #3.

Those into $$$... I would highly suggest one or two very secure outlets. No more than 2-3 transactions in a few month span.

Basically large amounts for le$$/lb so that you don't have to deal with the security end.

*shrug*

Or that's the way I'd play it. Everyone has a source around here though... not much of a 'market' if you know what I mean. lol

Setup money is no issue

I was going to do a minimum of 2-3 indoor small hydro grows before going big. Mainly because all of my experience is outdoor with soil. While I know the basics for good nug I'm sure it will take a few runs for me to get my Hydro down.

The reason I want the tents is... they would be really easy to set up, and cheap. I could have the air filtered on an intake, then filtered on outtake. That way the odor inside the tent would be circulated with the entire house but the actual stink would be kept to the tent. The only issue I need to work out is how I would hang the lights. There's no rule saying they must be hung from the ceiling, so I could come up with some sort of easy system to hold the lights up inside the tent. Though I still have a year or 2 before I do this so I have plenty of time to plan.

I don't want to talk about selling really but needless to say, I can move any amount easily, that's my last worry.

Though I need to ask... and this is probably a newbie question but, what is the advantage to having separate veg/flower rooms? The way I was thinking was have a bunch of plants, Scrog them and do ~3-4 harvests per year.

Can I ask what square footage you're growing in, or how many plants, to get 2lbs per month?
The 4 L's...
Very good posts, and very smart at that. I would never be selling while I was growing, though, I have a plan so that I don't have to break that rule. :) Thank you though for the post, it's going in my favorites.

I live in a largely forested state for the most part. I plan to get some property that's far off the road and concealed under trees with no neighbors, which won't be hard to find. Though to stop FLIR I have a few ideas.

There are many possible workarounds. Though truly, I doubt anyone would be FLIRing my residence. Even if they did, I'm sure that if my house is well ventilated, and I have a tent set up indoors, most of the heat would kept to the tent. Ideally I would plan for the scrubbed air to be blown out of the tent and towards the bottom of the door of that room. This way the heat is directed to the core of the house, and the outside of the tent is kept relatively house temperature.

Clean your air, and also add air fresheners throughout your house just in case. Find something smelly you can put outside in the grass around your house that can help if you have a flight leak (friend had a corner or his roof leaking, so if you stood in a certain spot in the yard you could smell it...that bring me to my next point)

Walk around the outside and sniff around every week or two, more often if you can.

Make sure you change/shower after tending to your ladies, the smells can stick. Get Breaking Bad status and get a full body suit?

Don't smoke, if you do i'd do it by your carbon filter...if you have friends coming by who smoke tell em your landlord is a douchebag who stopped by randomly the other day and caught you.

You seem smart, but don't get too confident, that's when you start fucking up.

I know noobs gettin 1.5-2lb off a light...read up
