Planned Micro Grow

Hi,

I'm about to do my first grow. i have plenty of seeds. Dont really know what they are but i'ma try them anyway. I'm going to be using a computer case for this grow. the dimensions are 16x161/4x7 (WxHxD).

What should I be looking out for. If the plant turns out to be a taller one how will this affect it? Will it try to over grow or just grow all over the place inside the cabinet?

Also. I wanna start basic. What soil and nutrients would you guys suggest?

Thanks so far for the info guys.

@ReikoX thanks for the link that was very informative!
@Madux i will be following your work. Best of luck!!

Ok so far I'm still working on the computer case while i do my research. Gotta remove some damn rivets so tomorrow i will see if i can drill them out. If anyone has any experience with this some tips would be greatly appreciated. Gonna hit YouTube in the meanwhile and see if i find anything.

If you have a dremal tool with a grinding wheel it might help with the rivets. If you need to cut them from inside the case.

you want to get a drill with a small bit and drill out all the screws that hold the motherboard, hardrive panels, everything! then I cut out cardboard that were the same shape as the gaps/holes as the case. then sealed with Gorilla Tape.. I recently resealed my PC case here are some pics..The more air tight the better and more effective the airflow will be and also light leaks will be.

heres some pics:

Also you dont need to do the whole splice and cut and rewire thing for the fans. I find that to be a serious fire hazard. you can find fans that plug into wall outlets that come with speed controls i went to a site called Acinfinity dot com. Check them out :) OR you can go to newegg and buy an internal hard drive power adapter and use a fan speed control switch to connect PC fans safely.

Removing rivets with a drill is super easy. Get a drill bit slightly bigger than the hole the rivets are in. Drill out the rounded edge until you hit metal. The back end should fall off, but may need a pair of pliers to pull it out. I've done this many times (used to build custom computer mods).
Good luck, makes me want to get back to work on my PC case. :)

Thanks for the Tips guys.

Not sure yet about the lights. I'm thinking CFL tho. from what i've been reading more of a light spectrum and I will get a better yield.

Looks good, not taking out the motherboard tray? If you do it will help alot for clearance for the LED you put in. My first case was midsize atx case also. Looking forward to your build :)

Madux thank you for saying that. When I looked at your case I noticed no motherboard tray. I had thought that it would have to be cut out but after i read your question, I looked again.

Lo, and behold I could see that it is just glued on. LOL!!!

So tonight I will take it out and take more pics. Thanks for the input man!!

Bit of a problem here. The motherboard tray is actually apart of the upper and lower inner casing. It looks like it will have to be cut out. which is really a bummer. cause I dont have the tool and will have to buy it. so time to go to the Hdepot site and see how much this is gonna cost. I will also start cleaning out the mini tower I have.

@madux, I'm thinking I'ma have to have the cutting tool anyway for future projects. removing the board will give me about another 1/4 inch of depth which i think I'm gonna need anyway. this is a mid size atx. i have seen other grows inside full atx's where they grew three plants so i'm hoping that i can get up to two plants inside this chasis. might be reaching but i wanna try. i cleaned out a mini atx case that i'm gonna use for clones and seedlings.
