I am confused about which is which . I understand that the pistils turn brown when dying , you can see it easy with naked eye. But people say get a magnifying glass and look at colour of trichones and when they turn brown . I am expecting my manifyier to arrive tomorrow ( 60 x ) so will be able to tyry to find these here trichomes , hopefully. any answers please ? any pics . Apparently trichones vare tiny hairs but so are pistils to my mind ...lol... help ?

the hairs you see are pistils and the trichomes are the crystals. there are trichomes on pistils but not the other way around.

When the hairs start to go from white/red/purple/lime to brownish thats one sign

when the trichomes go from clear to amber thats the second sign

dont even look until your at 9 weeks flower. I have only grown 1 strain that finished under 60 days that was BOG SB.... When all of the pistils have changed the plant is very close to done. make sure to plan out the flush with harvest. If your plants have 2 weeks left stop feeding them only water at this point and wait until you see the plant start to have deficiencys they will yellow out..

I agree. my rule of thumb is to add two weeks to what is advertised by the breeder. My shortest was 7 weeks for Afghani #1(sensi seed company.)

A pistil is the hair like object that protrudes out of the center of the calyx. the calyx is where seeds are incubated until ripe, but if not pollinated... they will simply continue to grow, swell, but never generate a seed. the trichome's are the frost that surround the calyx. this is where your psycho-active ingredients are located. they are mushroom shaped in nature. for more info on the trichome, see - Inside The Trichome By Bubbleman and Jeremiah Vandermeer

notice the brown hairs.... these are the pistils, the white/silver frost on the calyx's are the trichomes
