Been keeping the Deep Chunk hybrid project going and worked hard doing my seed selections for this spring to keep the sativas out of the garden. Trying to turn the line back to a pure IBL Deep Chunk afghan. Let me know what you think, it seems to be working quite nicely. Now the afghans are more prone to mold, but the medicine is better, and there are things to do to minimize it. Having healthy plants, correct spacing with good airflow, picking out mold as soon as possible with regular inspections, pollinating not too late so there are only a few seeds. These are things you can do to prevent mold. Need to try and find those mold resistant plants.
Males have all been removed except 2 choice pollinators with DC traits. A tree fell near the plot yesterday and an upper limb landed right between the rows and thankfully didn't kill any plants! Its God's grace I wasn't there, I was out hiking in the creek a little longer having fun with the dogs. The leaves were freshly cut when I got there in the afternoon. Pulled 1 plant that had several leaveIs chopped.
Fertilized with granular (dry) composted poultry manure and dolomite lime when soil was worked, and again with the poultry compost mid June. Will get some guano applied soon to keep them fed going into flowering.
There's a few pics so you can see whats going on. I'm excited, its my best garden so far. A couple of the plants are 7-8 ft already!
Enjoy!
