Pimp my soil

I've spent plenty of time reading icmag during the past few years. The soil mixes some of you cook up blow my mind - reeeeeeaallly, you're using himalayan goat turds, the mold from an east-facing mayan tomb, and organic sorcerer's blood? Where are you getting this shit?

I insist on keeping it simple. My latest mix is:

1 large bag Promix
1 4lb bag earthworm castings
1 12lb bag mushroom compost

I'm getting great veg results:


But also have seen some rust-creating deficiency in multiple strains:


What would you add or take away - that isn't obscure - to accommodate my current mix? We gotta keep it simple.

That looks like a magnesium deficiency to me, but I could be wrong. Dolomite lime or gypsum would help with that.

I would drop the mushroom compost and get more castings...maybe add a little perlite if it starts getting muddy. I might add a couple of scoops of espoma garden-tone to---it's available in most big chain hardware stores with a garden department. If I couldn't find that I would take a closer look at whatever other organic fertilizer they carried in a cheap bag...jobe's, down-to-earth, happy frog, whatever. And don't worry about adding lime to pro-mix...they already handled it.

Yep, I agree on the Mg def. Been adding a pinch of Epsom to compensate at first sign - has worked well for this current run.
