Picking an extension cord

I don't understand very much about electricity. I know some of you do.

I have a:

250 watt PL lighting system......290 watts....60 Hz.....120 Volts.....2.7 Amps

4" Vortex...............................80 watts......60Hz......120 Volts......? Amps

Axial Fan......................................?Watts.....50/60Hz....110-120Volts... .27/.23Amps

Maxima Airstone.......................4.5 Watts....60Hz.........115 Volts.....? Amps

Mini-Jet H20 pump...................6 Watts........60Hz.........120 Volts...? Amps

Grow Chek TDS........................12 VDC ???????? Don't know what VDC is???

Ok, so I'm not sure what rating to get....not sure what adds and what limits...

Please give input, thanks.

Edit: I'm re-setting up after a couple years. The last cord was a heavy duty and when I tore the grow down I noticed the cord had worn from the way I worked it to the grow, wasn't safe with wire exposed.

Since that cord I have added the vortex to the list of juice suckers.

VDC is Direct current. Your TDS meter plugs in?

As far as the rest of your stuff, I wouldn't have any qualms about putting it all on a heavy duty orange extension cord with a surge protector on the end. You're not pulling many amps at all.

I read the back of the TDS not the socket attachment.........it reads AC-DC adaptor input: 120VAC, 60 Hz ,15 Watts Output: 12VDC 500mA

I also forgot the Rez heater: 50 watt, 115V~60 Hz

Thanks Nite Tiger:
So I only add the Amps, not the watts, Hz and all the other Tech specs?

I would recommend investing in heavy duty 12 guage copper wire extension cords for any and all applications requiring an extension, imho.
A quality medium duty grounded extension cord, the shorter the better, will work just fine for your application though.

Yeah the amp are the key. Watts and volts would help you determine what the amperage would be, if it weren't printed on there.

IM, as usual, has some excellent links there. But everything you've got doesn't even look like it approaches 10 amps, so yeah, just about any grounded extension cord would work.

Thank very much everyone!

Off to lowes for the second time today. Budget is a little thin for the rest of the month, not the first time to go to a food bank........although I did stock up on cheap non-perishables.

I'd wait to go back but I lost my attachment for my Great Stuff Insulation foam and don't have the nerve to steal a new attachment.....rather ask for food from the church food bank if I need it.

They didn't have the one I posted the link to.

But I picked up a over-load Guard 15' 14 gauge/15 Amp

Just a fantasy here, but they need to start putting outlets in closets...I can see it already, a world where cannabis is legal and there are apartments designed for hobby growers........Yaaaah! Big walk in closets with many many outlets, greenhouse style decks........mmmmmm.

Great, had you decided to steal something things may not be going to well for you.believe that from a person pushin 50.Growing and theft dont interact, ever. We're growers not thieves. When I told me brother I was considering starting a neighborhood watch after a recent incident,he couldn't stop laughing!I'm not kidding bigass belly laughs lol.Apparently he sees a connection between what I do and what dishonest criminals do,I dont see the correlation and I'm not laughing.I see absolutely no "conflict"between growing cannabis and heading a neighborhood watch program, none at all, zero. You bet I pay 35 bucks each year for my LEO license plate and rear window sticker, whatever your true motivation may be this is always a good idea.I'm not talking about a say no to drugs bumper sticker so LEO doesn't suspect you of being a user, supporting your local sherriff's office goes far beyond that. Not only never steal or take advantage of people with your new found luckiness,be more giving and contrite for being the lucky bastard that you are and good things will continue to happen.Go in the other direction and you're not long for the lifestyle.

Whoa now, he didn't say he stole anything though. All he said was he wouldn't have the nerve to steal. And I'm pretty sure the sherrif dept would still bust you, whether or not you payed them $35 a year.
