Unfortunately i like to have spikes of activity and inactivity here due to paranoia and other things so i didn't document my previous 150 watt grows. You can check out the cabinet i'm using in my signature.

The Goal
Grow 9 plants from two strain's (Troublemaker and Chrystal). Yield 100 grams, 3.5 oz, or 2/3 gram/watt.

The Plan
I currently have 4 cuttings of Troublemaker rooting and 2 cuttings of Chrystal rooting. I'll take another 4 within the next few days to have 10 rooting. The runt will be given away to a friend, composted, or planted outside. Once all cuttings have roots they will be put in 1 gallon milk jugs and vegged for a 5 days. Cuttings will then be put on 12/12.

Method of growing is organic recycled soil with organic nutrients and earth worm castings. I've been reuseing the soil for a couple of grows now and i add my earthworm castings and various organic nutrients to it. Nutrients include:

Seabird Guano
Blood Meal
Bone Meal
Kelp Meal
Bat Guano

Previous Grows

Northern Lights:

Chrystal:

Troublemaker:

This Grow
I'm going to post up photo's from the grow and photos after harvesting and curing.

Here's some Troublemaker at 8 weeks of flowering:

Chrystal at 62 day's of flower:

Chrystal at 64 day's of flower:

Chrystal dried and ready for jars:

Final Yield

Troublemaker (5 plants): 14.4 grams
Northern Lights (1 plant): 2.7 grams
Chrystal (3 plants): 9.2 grams
Avg. Grams per plant: 2.92 g/plant
Grams per watt: 0.18 g/watt

A disappointing grow, but I've learned from my mistakes and will only move on and improve my harvest.

JustEnough: Thanks for stopping in.

Okay i took 4 more cuttings yesterday and snapped some pictures of the process. First though lets take a look at part of the cabinet.

Below we have the veg compartment with 3 CFL's actual wattage varies from 13 to 23. Depending on how much growth i need and if i need cuttings in the future I'll put in 3 larger lights. When i know i won't need any for a while i switch to 2 smaller lights. I also recently drilled several holes in the side to put in metal dowels to support shelving. I have the lights attached to the ceiling so i need the shelves to get smaller plants closer. Currently there are three mothers and 10 cuttings in here.

Next we have the utility compartment which houses the 265CFM blower, a fan speed controller, timers for lights in both compartments, and the ballast for the 150w HPS. You can see the venting coming from the flower compartment and it is NOT attached directly to the blower. This is to help get some heat out of the utility area created by the fan, ballast, and wires. I really haven't had any problem keeping the flower room cool so i plan to keep it set up this way.

Here's what the compartments look like. One on top of the other.

Okay now we can get started. Well not exactly first we need to light a bowl up. Okay good. Now i have 4 pieces of pvc pipe here with holes drilled in it. I found some pvc around in my neighborhood and decided to take it home and find a use. Well i have.

So we take a few layers of newspaper and wrap it around the bottom to stop soil from falling out. Keep it secure with a rubber band.

Now get some soil in there, make sure you water the soil in and gather cutting supplies (clean snippers and rooting horomone).

Take the cutting from the momma.

I take all my cuttings at once from a plant and place them in water. Then i get the horomone and medium ready.

Dip the bottom of the stem in the horomone making sure to get full coverage and then tap the cutting to get excess horomone off.

Gently place the stem in the medium (which you should have put a ~3" hole in) and press the soil around the stem to make sure cutting is secure.

All done.

Sitting in my custom built box with other cuttings. I cover my cuttings with a milk jug or some other transparent plastic for 5-7 days misting once a day or two. Then i mist them once or twice a day once i remove the milk jug.

Finally more bud shots, both chrystal:

Decided to build a little drying box so that i could dry my tiny in between harvest.

Here's the box on the outside:

This is the little 80mm computer fan that's venting it. It sucks air through a carbon filter and blows it out.

Here you can see the window screen the flowers lay on while drying. I could probably fit another one in, but i don't think i need it because i usually use my flower chamber to dry in.

Now you see the carbon filter i made with an old 12 pack box. I just made a recession and placed a screen on the bottom. Fill it with carbon and it's ready to go.

So there you see my auxiliary dryer. I'll only be using it as a back up or if i need to use the flower box for something else.

Outdoor

Before we delve into my indoor grow i just wanted to post some pictures of a little outdoor plant i put out a while back. She was an extra cutting and i didn't really want to throw her out so i put her up in the hills. There is almost no bud development as she's in a shady spot and i haven't gone to water of fertilize since i planted her.

Here she is toppled over:

Staked up, that's better:

Now there was some sort of poop on parts of the plant:

I was thinking it was from caterpillars? There was also a couple slugs on her that i picked off. All in all though i was surpirsed she was still alive with no care from me.

Indoor

Now on to the indoor. The cuttings are doing good and are almost ready to pot up for veg:

Here's a problem i'm having now though. This is my Northern Lights mother and she isn't looking too good:

I think it's too many nutrients so i was going to repot her with new soil and she how she does. If it is something else then please let me know what you think.

Peace,

Ok transfer 8 cuttings into the flower room, but i will be running 18/6 for a while until they get big enough for flower. Here's some photos from the potting up.

Milk jugs ready to be planted:

Here's a "plug":

Another plug with some good root growth:

All potted up and in the flower chamber:

That's it for now.

A little purple coloring coming from the lower temperatures recently. Troublemaker at 8 weeks.

Well this harvest looks to be another low yield. Honestly i think i need more room for the roots. The milk jugs just don't allow the girls enough room to stretch out. Also i still think i could have given them far more nutes and let the plants go a little longer. I have one grow left before i go on hiatus for around 5 months. The last one will probably be small also as i won't have much time to let the girls go. I expect to get a few grams over an ounce on this harvest maybe not even an ounce. Luckily i don't need much to get stoned so it's plenty, but i would like to take that next step in growing an get closer to 1 gram per watt. I'll post picks when i cut the the Chrystal (maybe another 4-5 days) and i will give finals weights when available.

I forgot to post this picture of a friends garden. I saw it a week or two ago and it's about 4 weeks into flower. Apparently he got some sativa cuttings and didn't know that's what they where. I had to tell him sativas take a loooong time unlike the indica's he's used to growing.

I think he has a 600 watt light in there.

Chrystal Day 62 flower:

I might go another day or two before chop. Also the Troublemaker and Northern Lights are almost done drying and ready for jars so i should have weight on them soon.

Very MacGyver. Excellent use of existing materials. Gotta' love a good scrounge grow. Loved the cab tutorial as well (though the isometric view is a bit disconcerting in a 5D kinda way.)

Can I ask about your photo setup? Is there a box here or just a dark room? What about your spot lights? Beautiful composition and use of negative space.

I just used a flash with a high shutter speed. Then on the flash you put a "snoot" and that directs the light more. Then simply point it at the plant and take some pictures. Once the photos are on the computer i use the burn tool in photoshop to black around the plant a little more.

Ok Chrystal's should be coming down tonight. I just transferred the troublemaker and northern lights to jars to cure. So far the total yield is 17.1 grams. Far from what i should be able to get with a 150 watt light. Next cycle i hope to veg a little longer and get a thicker canopy with more bud sites.

And after it's all trimmed and in the dryer:

Thanks to all who took a look at this thread. I'll see you in Round 4.

Just wanted to post a little technique i use during my grows, or rather after my grows. I usually throw everything into the bath tub and give it all a good scrub down. Naturally all the dirt gets in the tub and if you hate clogging up the drain (security reasons in apartments, don't want no plumbers comin' round these parts) then i found out a nice trick. Use panty hose to clean all the large chunks out. Then i just hang up the hose to dry and once dry dump the dirt back into my tub full of reused soil. It takes barely any time and gets the water pretty clean.

Okay folks final yield report and some photos of some dryed bud. Total yield for Chrystal came to 9.2g for 3 plants. This bring the total yield to 26.3g, very low for a 150w light. Here's some photos of the chrystal dried and ready for jars:
