The normal is 18 hrs on 6 hrs off, You can do 24/7 if you want as well but generally veg cycle is 18/6. If your just wanting to see what type photoperiod everyone is using for veg. Both my rooms are currently in flower the dwc grow I ran 18/6 veg cycle the soil room I ran 24/7.

how many hours of light and darkness do you give for vegging plants

I run my veg 24/7 for the beginning 4 weeks and then prefer to give the plant 18/6 at the transitional stage between veg and flowering for 2 weeks and following that it's 12/12 to home.

hey

hey

I have always used a 18-6 light cycle for veg. and i have never had bad results i i think that 24/7 is just using more energy than you need to and i dont think that it makes it grow any better

I've always done 24 on/0 off for veg and haven't had a problem from it yet in my 10+ years of growing.

the main benefite of running 24 is that whaen u go into ur flowering cycle, plants vegging under 24,go into flower faster due to the greater change in light cycles and often finish a bit earlier...

ive tested both..thats why i like to run 24

According to Jorge Cervantes' current book, you can run your vegetative cycle for 24 hours without any problems, however others have suspected that this can interfere with root development. Personally speaking, I've found no studies which show that root development is damaged by using a 24 hour regimen.

18/6 is the tradition which most growers have sworn by for years.

My experience has shown that shutting off my light for 24 hours can save between a few days to a week as the plant transitions into bloom. At this point, I switch everything into flower.

I've read that using 18/6 in veg encourages the development of preflowers sooner than with 24/0.

In a few experiments of my use of 24/0 of lighting versus 18/6 of lighting in veg; I've found the plants seem to show sex faster in 18/6 than 24/0 and then dropping to 12/12.

It's mostly your personal preference for the lighting schedule used in veg and there wasn't any noticeable difference in yield.
In my opinion....24/0 vs 18/6 isn't as important as it's made out to be. Many will disagree because of Nature's natural order of things. We as Man tend to want to tweak everything .......and then choose the best ...the best the best..

Is there a best lighting schedule....??? It's all personal preferences IMHO :rasta:
