PH?

how do i control the ph in my soil?

That all depends. (Don't you love that answer?) What is your soil? What's the pH of the water you are using? What nutrient system are you using? (Organic? "Conventional?")

What I do (and I think a lot of us do), in peat moss based media (which is most of it, ie Pro-Mix, Farfard, Miracle Gro, etc.): I add 2 TB of Dolomite Lime per gallon of soil. This "buffers" the soil, as peat moss tends to be acidic and dolomite lime is basic... like I said, it really depends on your situation. The other thing is, you want to pH balance your nutrient solutions and water when you water- for that you need something to measure the pH with (drops, strips, or meter), and pH up/down solutions to adjust as necessary.

More info would be helpful, but that's a start.

Do you know that you have pH issues at this point? I imagine, if anything, your pH is low, in which case the safest, easiest, and cheapest way to raise the pH is with something called "Hydrated Lime", available at your local Agway, or other garden center. Basically, it's very finely ground lime that you mix in with your water and water as usual...

But without knowing the pH of your soil, it's hard to give advice... I would say, however, that a tsp of hydrated lime per gallon of water isn't going to hurt things, either way... most nutrient regimens are acidic, as is the peat moss that (I'm assuming here actually) Scotts' soil is composed of. You are in large containers (how big are the plants? Indoors I presume? What's your lighting? The questions are endless), which is a good start. (By the way, this form is the standard on this site- whenever you have a question about plant problems, most people will say "Did you fill out the form?" This is what they mean...)

I am not an expert but i will give you a story.

At my first soil run i was measuring my nutes with my digital phpen and fix it with ph down at 6,5.

Somewhere i read that i must have runoff water bellow 7.
My runoff is at 7,2 and i start flushing and flushing ,
3 times the container size.

I finally realize that this is hard work to do ,
and i let my runoff alone.

My girls was looking happy and they continue to look happy with me just feeding them with 6,5ph at my solution.
Conclusion fix your watering solution at 6,5 and let it be as long as your girls is happy.

After that i switch to hydro it was fun i can manage everything ph,ec,ppm but hard work and explosive growth rates wich means more work.

After shuting down my hydro setup i am now back to the game
and i am setting up Hempy's Buckets ,
easy as soil productive almost as hydro.

Colcusion Switch to Hempy's

Very strange that you would have runoff at 7.2 with 6.5 going in- what was the medium? What were your nutes? Just curious...
