PH too high, locking out MG

My plants are a little over 4 weeks old and a few are showing a MG def. My soil mix is 40% pro/mix BX....30%perlite.....20% worm castings, and 10% vermiculite.I mixed 20 gallons of this and added 2 tbls pellitized lime for each gallon. One plant has shown a problem since week one and now has a lot of dried up curled leaves.I water in my nutes and plain water at 6.2, and it comes out between 7.1 and 7.4.I have 9 plants total.I'll soon be flipping to 12/12 and need some help getting this straightened out before I do.What can be done to lower the PH of my soil?I feed every other watering with Fox Farms GB and BB plus mollasses and super thrive. Last feeding was at 500 ppm.

The first problem is you used the wrong lime. Next time get the pulverized dolomite lime. I believe the pellets will break down but it takes it some time. I dont understand the runoff coming back that high because the GB is 4.0 PH. What size are your containers and how much of each ferts are you giving them and when did you start the ferts?

My plants are in 1 gallon containers now.I first fed them when they were 2 weeks old and feed them every other watering. They dry out enough to water about every 4 to 5 days. I started at 1/2 tsp GB...1 tblsBB,...1tsp mollasses, and 1/4 tsp super thrive. I mix 2 gallons and then cut it with plain water to get 450-500PPM. My tap water is 85 PPM,but has a PH of around 8.2.I use PH down to get it around 6.2-6.3. I'm using a 400 watt HPS light with 160 watts of fluorescent. My space is 14.2 sq. ft. and is 7' tall. My temps go from low 60's when lights are off, to mid 70's with the lights on.Humidity is mid 40's to mid 50's. I have a 6" inline fan with a speed control pulling through a carbon filter that runs 24/7. I have it running pretty slow now to keep temps up, but will speed it up when the weather gets hotter.

Have you pulled them out of the pots to see if they are rootbound? With those nutes and the setup you are running that could be the problem. At around 30 days, I transplant into 3 gallon and then flower in 5 gallons at 60 days.....

JJScorpio knows his stuff so I would listen to him.
Also, I would like to add that I do not think you have a mg deficiency. I have never used pro-mix, but I believe I have read that it already contains lime. Also, with 2 tbs of lime per gallon plus what was already mixed in out of the bag, you are getting enough mg. I do not use those ferts either--do they have mg in them?
You should try to lower the pH, but at 7.4 I don't think you would have a drastic lockout on most common indoor strains. What strain are you growing?
I think your use of superthrive for every feeding might not be a great idea. That is powerful stuff. It might be cooking them.
"One plant has shown a problem since week one and now has a lot of dried up curled leaves". Are they grown from seed? If so, this also leads me to believe it is not an mg problem. Did you fert right before it went south?
Is this your first time growing soiless?
A transplant will probably really improve their conditions. Would solve them being rootbound, pH, and help with overfert if that is what is affecting them. I would figure out if pro-mix already has lime in it before adding more. I have had too high of a pH in ocean forrest after adding 2 tbs lime since it already has pH buffers in it.

Thx for the words of support BigJilm. I think you are correct on the fert idea but I also think there could be a problem with being rootbound.....

Thanks for the help so far.I looked thru the sick plants section and think my main problem is to high of a ph.Promix has lime in it already, and me adding more just made the ph go higher. This is my 5th grow, but my first using promix and fox farms nutes. Before I used Miracle gro potting soil and Peters ferts.I'm trying to use what most on here consider better supplies.I'm growing White Rhino, AK48, and I have 1 Oaxaccan Sativa....{freebie}.I'm not one to over fert and the feedings I have given them have never been over 500ppm.I went to the nursery today and got some perlite, another bag of promix, and tried to get some 2 gallon containers.I have lots of 4 gallon containers to flower in,but usually try to sex in smaller ones, then transplant to the 4's.......saves some soil that way.I mixed up 8 gallons promix,2 gallons perlite, and 2 gallons worm castings and mixed this with the 12 gallons of soil I already have with the extra lime added.Hopefully when I transplant this will take care of the ph problem. They didn't have any 2 gallon containers,so I bought some 3 gallon ones, but I'm thinking this will be a waste because I'll only be gaining an extra gallon when I transplant after sexing.I might just go ahead and put them into the 4's and have 1 less transplant to worry about.

I agree with one less transplant. The extra one would only stress them more. Other than that it sounds like the wise words of others has solved the problem. Peace

Well, tonight I got the repot done. All 9 plants showed a lot of roots, not quite rootbound, but very near. When I got them out of the HPS light I noticed the lower leaves were getting a little pale,so I moistened all the soil needed for the repot with a 750PPM mix of GB,BB, and super thrive.Haven't grown in 2 yrs. and forgot how much fun playing in the dirt is! I'll wait till the pots get light before I water again.I'm hoping for the best.
