question.. the past days my plants started to droop
i thought it was over fertilized.. but today i tested the water run off of three different plants and they all tested 7.2ph, to hight :yoinks: so.. do i water with right ph and get it back to normal or wait till they dryed up alittle :chin: ? the idea of me testing the run off did'nt ocurre to me till after i water dam near all of them and i don't want to over water  what should i do? i say wait till there dry. whut do u guyz think?

Ok, well the way it is supposed to work is that the medium buffers the PH, so that the water going in can vary in PH but it will come out buffered and therefore still at the right range.

How did you mange to get the PH all the way up to 7.2 ? Are you using a lot of peat in your soil ? What is the source waters PH ?

If you feel you overferted them then watering with plain water was a good idea. This flushes the medium out. Overwatering is a major concern as it's a common problem for many a new grower. However, as long as you are aware of it it's usually not a big problem. You usually have to overwater several times or never allow the medium to dry out to do much damage. I think container weight is the best way to measure if the plant needs water. Keeping in mind of course you have to compensate when it starts to get big or goes in flower, but especially at the early stage when the plant isn't quite taking up water like mad and the bottom of the container can be full of water but impossible to see. Wait to water until the container gets light. It's fine to let it dry out considerably just not stay bone dry for more than a day or two.

I'm still curious how you got a 7.2 run off. If your situation stays like that you will want to figure out why. Either you medium contains something too acidic or your PH meter is off. I suppose the temporary over fertilization might raise the PH depending on what your nutrients are. Be careful with that high of a PH and make sure your ladies don't get root bound.

Are you cloning yet? Try out Rapid Rooters or oasis cubes for the easiest cloning. That, a sharp razor and cloning gel. Oh yea and some type of humidity dome. A clear rubbermaid contain will work fine or a tray with a humidity dome even. You can even use plastic wrap, but keeping that humidity up is important for higher success rates.

good luck

thank you Jesusbuiltmygro for this advice. i use, foxrarm of.(1.5cf. bag) to light warrior (1.0cf. bag) to 7 gallons perlite. this is where i think i f'ed up, i added 2 cups whitney farms dolimite lime granular, not powder! :yoinks: (if that makes a differiants)
and i was adjusting the ph from 8.0 to 6.8 thinking it was going to be at 6.8, i guess i was wrong..

oh yeah.. i watered the drooping plant today at a ph of 6.3, and tested the run off at 6.8 :chin: how long be4 it gets back to normal?

now are you just guessing the droop is from ph?

or do you actually have a reliable source telling you this?

i thought that what happens during bad pH is nutrients get locked out, so you get dificencies, not drooping... actually im almost positive on this

but i am a semibeginner might wanna get a pro to comment

i'm using a hanna ph tester and calabrating it when needed. i calabrated it recently (not that it needed it ) with the the 7.0 calabration solution
