Hi,
Soil = Biobizz Lightmix, Canna Terra
I started from seeds (5 plants). I was giving them water with adjusted pH, no nutrients.
Everytime I add a little bit of citric acid or phosphoric acid to lower pH to about 6.5. I checked pH with GHE pH kit.
After about 4 weeks plants began to show symptoms of pH being very low.
(Some grower from here told me what the problem was - thanks!!!)
I checked runoff and it was 4.5 (GHE pH kit again).
I flushed them with high pH water and they got back to normal. The runoff is now about 6.5.
Here are my questions:
1. Should I not lower pH of solution I give to 6.5?
2. How is it possible that neutral feeding solution (pH=6.5, EC=0.4, no nutrients) caused high acidity? The soil had correct pH at the beginning
I used this to measure pH:
