Hola amigos,

Was curious if anyone out there could recommend a good ph/ppm meter - tester for both the soil and the water for my first mother hunt run.

Thanks

I've never seen one for both soil and liquid and I'm not sure I'd trust one that did

well im not sure they make one that does both. i got a hanna ph meter here-
-> http://www.sunstoneherbals.com/testers_ph_tds_etc.htm

i have another that does test ph and soil nute level which takes batteries. you can also ck here for meters www.homeharvest.com

the prices at the 1st link are best.
also if you get the hanna ph meter it comes with 7.1ph buffer, you will need the 4.0 ph buffer then you can ck and/or set the ph ranges.

hope this helps

Dreamscape if you're concerned about soil ph but only have a meter for liquid, use a tablespoon of powdered dolomite lime per gallon soil mix and dont worry about it.If you pour say tapwater with an 8.5 PH slowly through and check the ph runoff,if will be neutral or close to 7.If you use tiger bloom without ph up and your nute ph is 5.0 and you pour it slowly through, again the ph runoff will read close to neutral.Another words powdered or pulverized dolomite will take care of the soil ph just fine all through flower, when I harvest my runoff PH will still be neutral regardless of what I pour through.Am I saying balancing nute ph isnt necessary when using dolomite mixed with the soil? Not at all,I wouldnt tell anyone to do that, but come to your own conclusions based on what I just told you which is 100% accurate.Dont be sprinkling dolomite on the surface after the fact like I hear so many do around here, its meant to be part of the soil mix.Get powdered or pulverised,if you can find speedy grow its what I use and never lets me down.I tried another brand one time, all dolomite is not created equal you'll find this out.The new dolomite turned my blockhead plants yellow.Went back to speedi-grow which had diferent % of mag and cal and everythings beautiful.

yup google is a bomb- they track who is doing searchs, they keep track of ip's and mac addy's and never gets rid of the info.

hhhhmm how much diff is there in mixing the dolomite in or just sprinkle some on top of the soil. either way will get the dolomite in to the soil with results..... while the instructions state that it should be mixed in the soil but when you read its ment for outside. the stuff i use dosent state amounts for pot use. i have been growing the same way off an on for 20 years now most of the time i mix it in the soil and let the mix set for 2-3 weeks and mix it up in a grabage bag once a day, but when i forget to add it so i just sprinkle it on top the soil and water and i have not seen any diff.

like with anything else, once you find what works for you stick with it..... i will also agree with ballastman about not all dolomite is the same and will add not all ferts are made the same....

ballastman got a question for ya - did you change the mix ratio when you used the other dolomite? or did you use the same ratio as you used for the speedy dolomite? im not trying to knock ya just woundering if it caused a lockout or is the blockhead a mag hog? if customs hadnt got the blockhead i ordered i would know lol

only one thing i can add is to read your back side off in here and most of the time the answer is just a search away.

I think its time to go roll a fat one, :woohoo: just wish i could share.

I used the same ratio, but back then I was using 2 tbls per gallon soil mix.The same I used for promix but I switched to ocean forest and with the ocean forest 2 tbls speedi-grow didnt show bad effects, but I've switched to 1 tbls long since when I check runoff PH at harvest its still near neutral with 1 tbls. That other shit I bought really did mess up my plants,I did a little side by side just to make sure and there was no question. Why would 2 tbls speedi-grow not affect them badly but 2 tbls of this other shit really yeloowed them out?

O yea dont make this mistake like I did,I used to use the NSI classic 300 which are industry standard 1 gal pots to maesure with, they are only .6 gal. in reality. This could result in doubleliming right there lol!

JUst wondering if you guys using a tbls per gallon actually weight the dolomite out? apparently a tablespoon is 12 grams. Or do you guys just eye it?

ballastman

you are so right about watching the pot size ya use to measure the soil.

robotwithdreams

i think i use about 1 tsp/gallon of soil, i keep it really simple but this time i think ill be adding some microbes to see how much diff in growth thier will be.
