Did you really have to make another thread for this question? Rather redundant, wouldn't you say?

The best way to be sure you soil PH stays within the parameters for erb is to use a tablespoon or two of powdered dolomite lime per gallon soil mix.If you do this, you can basically kiss soil ph problems goodbye.I like to test the runoff to get an idea of my soil ph.The beauty of using dolomite lime is whatever you pour through PHwise, your runoff is going to be about neutral.Try it sometime.Use dolomite in your mix and dont adjust your nutrient ph,whether its a ph 5 or a ph 8 the runoff is going to be close to neutral. This tells me the dolomite is keeping soil ph within good parameters, this doesnt mean balancing nutrient ph is unnecessary, although I often wonder if it really is.Soil probes usually dont work well especially after being used a bit.Rapitest however does make a 2 probe meter called the electronic soil tester that tests both soil PH and nutyrient level. It costs 25 bucks dont get the single probe rapitest ph tester thats totally garbage, the dual probe can be pretty accurate when new lol.Use dolomite in your soil mix and you can be assured your soil ph will stay pretty consistent until the end of flower

thanx ballast. i got me a electronic ph meter to be sure. i did the dolomite yesterday. i usually ammend the soil with it when i mix. hard to use to much of it. i wonder if testing the outflow is a true soil ph. but it is prob about as close as ya can get.

It really is,there are other probably more accurate ways like actually taking a sample from way down in the container but no need to go through all that,we have dolomite! When you test runoff you can really see just how effective the dolomite is,especially if you've grown without it.I started out with promix and didnt use lime my first few grows,I thought all the yellowing in flower was normal,I know better now

if you have a ph tester(hanna, oakton etc.) you can test the runoff when you water your plants.

another way is to take a small amt of soil/medium in a cup and dilute it 1p soil/2p water
agitate it and then test it.

otherwise you could buy one of those soil ph test kits from your local garden supply

Good point about testing runoff,my point is if you use dolomite your runoff is going to remain close to the same no matter what your nutrient ph is when you pour it through, this should tell you the dolomite is being effective
