I had my ph of my dwc at 7 and just got to the store today to get some ph down and lowered it all down to 5.7-6.5, my roots where still growing fine ... when the ph was wrong ... but how long till you think the plants take off now that the ph is correct.
5.7 to 6.5 is a very broad ph. You should get it to 6. Plants will receive the nutrients instantly. If you are really in to it, replace your nutrient solution and readjust ph to 6 to put fresh nutrients in. Micronutrients such as manganese that have become insoluble at a high ph will probably not rebecome soluble even if the ph changes. The reaction goes only one way and not is not a 2 way street. From the photo, the small plant doesn't look bad just pale.
I did change every thing out on the smaller buckets (i'll see if it matters), just is a bitch to try to get the ph right when they arn't linked togeather so actually ph of most buckets is 5.5-6.5 range more towards the lower rng is just hard to get it perfect as i'm just using strips for now for testing.
I started out with ph strips. Then, I went to a digital ph meter. You might want to upgrade when you get some $. Just guessing by the photo, I would say your ph is high because, for example, iron would be more available at a lower ph and would give them a richer green color. No real problem yet...just lower your ph.
You can "link" them together fairly easily with some 1/2" tubing, straight connectors and grommets...my first hydro setup was 3 18 gallon tupperware tubs "linked" like that...made the res much more stable and adding water to any single container added it to all of them.
Yeah 4 seem to care less 3 are ph sensative, i have it stabalized around 5.7 now, i ussally don't have to worry so much when i switch over to bloom, so many ph buffers. They just hit thewater so they only had the improper ph since last friday.
