ph and drain off

D

dankbudz

my setup: plants are in veg
happy frog soil w/ 1/3 big and chunky perlite
2 tablespoon dolo lime per gall
trainwreck 10-12" in 1 gallon bags
1kw 3 feet away
mexican guano 10-2-1
cal-mag 2-0-0
superthrive
water airated over nite

i just feed my plants .5tablespoons of guano, .5 tablespoon of cal mag and 3 drops of superthrive. after i mixed them i ph'ed the water to 6.5. watered my plants and checked the run off and it was like 7.2-7.4. this was the second time i watered them in the 1 g pots. i got them as clones...plus a lil calmag i think...only on like 2 of them. this is the second time they have been watered with the lime in the mix. and the first time i have had them.

so i guess my question would be how can i fix this?

if your using organis guanos i would ditch the super thrive...that stuff is toxic and can mess with the mj plants hormones..just an opinion but i dont like stretch that stuff can induce. ya id flush them gals...how much water did u mix the 5 tablespoons of cal/mag with?

budz it varies between 6.3 to 6.8 in soil...but 6.4 or 6.5 would be optimum fot the intake of nutes and micro's

edit...just take the soils ph its more reliable then runoff ....imo that is

so should i flush or not?? that should say 7.2-7.4 for the drain off. i figured it was the lime since its was just getting activated(guess thats the word for it) that it would swing high for the first time till it gets washed through kinda

Measuring runoff, wont tell you alot.

A tale of two growers..

Grower A&B both have a problem with their plants. Somethings wrong in their 6th week of flowering in 3 gallon pots. They have both carefully measured ph in all the waterings and fertings while using all chemical ferts.

Grower A asks around and finds out its a good idea is to measure the run off water for ph to see if theres a salty build up of ferts when you have problems. Grower A does this and finds out their run off ph is in the low 5's.. so they flush real good and go from there.. problem solved.

Grower B decides its a better idea to not measure run off ph and to wing it and guess what the problem might be.. after several attempts Grower B has 'guessed' their plants to death.. problem solved cause a dead plant wont tell you much either.

Rule of thumb is one gallon of medium for each month of anticipated life.

Imo one gallon bags are two gallons short for a full season.

I also wouldnt overcorrect your ph with lime since its made of magnesium and calcium and too much will nute lock other stuff.

Im also a firm believer in not fixing a problem that isnt there [ know your environment just dont try to micro manage it.] so if your plants look healthy then take that as a good read and wait a day and read them again. Eventually the plant readings will tell you what it wants or when theres a problem rising.

p.s. stop using that superthrive crap cause it will F your plants up. Its a hormone soup of trouble.

so will the ph lower as the more i water???? or should i water with a lower ph of water??

Wish i could help you more then but any good doctor is going to want to see the patient before making more than a cursory observation.

You already know what your levels are supposed to be and know that over liming isnt good. Im sure you'll do fine from there.
