Anyone have an idea what the most ideal H2O PH is to propagate roots in rockwool? I've just been using tap, but now that I have a PH meter, I may as well be precise eh? From the tap the PH is 7.4-8.1. RO water is 5.5.
Clones don't give a shit about PH as long as it is within reasonable limits, say 5-7.5 or so. Clones are just stems, and the rooting process is internal, PH becomes an issue when it's nutrient uptake time. I root my clones in Tapwater at PH 7, always have. If you want to play with the PH go ahead, you won't hurt anything, but in terms of rooting it's not really much of a consideration.
Hey Lothar good to see ya!
I agree the PH is more important once roots are present....
Just try to keep it as close to 6.5 as possible after they root up...
Good post Lothar
I've never had any problems rooting in distilled water. I never knew the PH either. But now that I have my new toy, I can be more precise, and maybe get them to root in 4-5 days instead of 7-10 days that's all.
