Is anyone aware of a method to extend vegetative growth of AUTOS to allow mothers to be cloned and maintained in veg? This would require a PGR protocol, please does anyone have info on this?

Just this guy, ya know?
If he wanted photoperiod he would have you know, asked about them. He's asking about using plant growth regulators to control the ratio of red to far red phytochrome molecules, and let the plant stay in vegetative mode indefinitely. Unfortunately I don't think there has been enough science done on this to help yet. If you wanted to bite the bullet and start some organized testing, I'm pretty sure everybody would benefit from any gained knowledge. :tiphat:

CLONING OF AUTOFLOWERING CANNABIS PLANTS IS DIFFICULT BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE
More than ever, breeders offer autoflowering and feminized seeds. Profitability goes hand in hand with this type of revolutionary strain. But they are considered fragile already for the repotting, because of their root development not stable enough. In addition, the general belief is to think that an autoflo can not be cloned ... The requirement is there key, the cloning of your own autoflowering plant is possible. But under certain conditions ...

CLONING OF AN AUTOFLOWERING STRAIN
The varieties of autoflowering cannabis are strains that automatically switch from the vegetative state to the flowering state. And without the producer having to change the environment. As the plant matures, it automatically starts to produce buds. And whatever the lighting situation ... For comparison, a traditional strain - also called photoperiod strain - would require more than 12 hours of darkness per day to start flowering When growing traditional varieties outdoors, plant in the spring to work according to the sun's schedule and your plants can be harvested before winter.

BUDDING CALENDAR
For an autoflowering variety, just two months of warm, steady time is enough. The time zone and the season are not very important. Especially if you are in a moderate climate all year round. Autoflowering plants should be exposed to direct indoor lighting during 12 hours a day after budding, and they should be ready to be harvested in about ten weeks (max).
This is a huge advantage for any farmer in a hurry. But because of the different budding schedule of these plants, autoflowering strains do not clone as well as traditional plants.

Autoflos produce smaller buds
Essentially, to grow a clone, just take a small cut of your cannabis plant while it is in the vegetative state. And put it in a growing medium of your choice and grow it from there. Although it is not necessary, many people believe that it is very useful to use a rooting hormone gel or powder. After about ten days, the small cuttings should begin to form their own root system. And soon you can start growing your own plant.

A DIFFICULT CLONING
The thing about autoflowering plants is that they bloom over time and that they can not be deceived to stay in the vegetative period by turning on the lights over 13 hours a day. This has led to the general belief that autoflowering marijuana can not be cloned because cuttings taken from a parent plant are forced to follow its "genetic timeline" and flower according to age at the same time as it begins. to bloom. This logic dictates that the cuttings will not reach a useful size, and the yield will be negligible.

The cloning of the autoflowering species allows a good yield during the harvest
However, there are a handful of farmers who believe otherwise, and who have managed to clone their cars and allow them to continue to grow in a vegetative fashion until they are almost as tall as their mothers. Once they reach their maximum size, they begin to bloom.

PROPER TIMING
The key requirement if you are trying to clone autoflowering plants is to take only cuttings of the lower branches. These lower branches appear to be more hormonally stable than the new growth at the top of the plant. The main terminal stem, known as apical meristem, is the first part of the plant to receive the signal that it is time to bloom. And this information takes time to seep down and signal to the lower branches to bloom ... Thus, there is a short period of time between the first appearance of the sexual characteristics and the permeation of floral hormones in the plant tissues . This window can be from just a few hours.. And so it's crucial to look at your Pre-flowering plants and taking cuttings at this precise moment.

Cut with a clean blade
Clones share exactly the same genetics as the parent plant, and that includes age. Photoperiodic strains do better when cloned because the change in the environment they need to start flowering, gives them time to develop properly. An autoflowering clone would be the same age as its mother and would not depend on light. He would follow the same genetic chronology as his parent.

Successful autoflo cloning
Once the cuttings have been taken, they must be kept under low intensity light. But also in humid conditions until they are rooted. Once ingrained, they will grow vegetatively until they reach about 80% of the size of the parent plant. And here they will produce comparable final crops. So technically yes, you can clone autoflowering plants. But is it a good idea? Not necessarily. If the plant happens to be cloned before sex exposure, so that could work. But it is a very short window of opportunity that must be seized at its own risk ...

From my personal experience . I can add :

6500k light spectrum keep them in veg few more day ( cfl / led / mh )

And full spectrum leds make them flower earlier .
Sudden change with less light intensity can made them flower too .

XL strains with longer flowering time should be easier to clone . ( amnesia xxl style )
Easier than a reputed dwarf .

Good amount of N in veg should normally keep them in veg few more days .

(not mentionning size of pots and cycle of light again and again)

Thanks guys. Just to clarify, I need info on the use of PGRs (plant growth regulators) to stop autos from flowering and keep them vegging indefinitely. If anyone has any info on this specifically I would love to hear about it.

Induce Callus on the AF, culture the Callus in vitro that is pretty easy, Callus is undifferentiated cells they do not respond to photoperiod.
When needed take the callus and induce it to make shoots and roots, make plantlets harden off and flower as a normal AF.

no way to keep them in vegetative stage in the traditional way

and lot of pgr stuff are not really foodgrade or safe to use any other than ornamental plants..
