I find it funny that 'Red' states recieve the most subsidies from the federal gov't they want to leave behind....
It's time to get over the bitter beer face...the economy is too big to fail; the world economy is dependent upon how well the u.s. economy functions. Growth has been consistent for almost 3 years. Shit is gonna boom in about 2 more years...relax!
It's going to boom alright. Big badda boom.Shit is gonna boom in about 2 more years.
Spas you're talking to a recent business admin grad. I just took a microeconomics course last spring semester, where we studied the economy extremely close (under a republican professor). Fuck the partisan bs....look at the numbers for yourself. I'll provide links to the true data if you need it. Simply put, if the u.s. economy fails the world economy fails. Its exactly like the phrase; kill the head and the body will follow.
Hypothetical musing here. Say state "X" secedes. Pick one, it doesn't matter for the sake of discussion. So this state secedes. There are interstate highways (Federally maintained) leading in/out of said state. Water sources, such as rivers flow to/from other states. The National electric grid crosses state lines. Power comes from or goes to other states. You get the picture.
So what happens to these resources? Does the seceding state put up a wall around the state? Cut power lines? Put up road blocks on the interstate? Blockade the river?
These are shared resources. If the seceding state gets its primary source of water from another state, but doesn't want to belong to the US anymore, the other state is under no obligation to keep supplying water. Same goes for goods going into or out of the seceding state.
This secession shit won't work. No state is truly independent. Any state that tried this would end up looking like Cuba in short order.
This isn't how adults deal with problems. Adults work out their problems. Petulant children take their ball and go home.
Are we adults here, or petulant children?
Wow. Lots of econ majors throwing their credentials around in here. I'm nervous.Spas you're talking to a recent business admin grad. I'm an independent btw
Why would anyone do any of those absurd things?
And your point is? That states would then have to renegotiate agreements and share their resources in a way that is more beneficial to each individual state, vs the situation they're in now where they're FORCED to do things a certain way, even if that's not the best way? How would that be bad again?
What's your point?
This is nothing more a complete lack of imagination and vision on your part.
Do you not see how divisive you're being right now with this INSULTING manner? Do you not see how you're smirking and snickering and laughing and dismissing people's valid concerns and anger, and so doing nothing but increasing said anger, and not making things better?
Look in the mirror--you're part of the problem.
Well, you're being a petulant child right at this very moment, if you define a "petulant child" as someone who uses insults in the place of factual arguments.
I'd not want to be one of those signatures. I'm sure that will get you put on a list....
