Things are quite different now. Not saying it would come to that, but just sayin....... Can't run tanks on biofuels and credit derivatives.

credit derivatives not so much, but im sure they could derive enough used fry oil and greasy banker drippings to run energy independent for at least a few weeks...

What's funny is the idea that a state like Louisiana might be better able to run their own affairs, on their own. That's actually sadly hilarious.
actually in louisiana this may be the sole case where a state would fare MUCH better without the US government..

LA would be the richest state in the union if not for specific regulation that keeps them from taxing the oil that flows through the state.
because the oil is drilled X amount of miles off shore the federal government prevents LA from taxing it.
even though it is brought through the state.

Last time the north was the industrial and financial center of the nation. The south was full of poor farmers.

Now the south is the just as if not more industrial as the north and controls the major ports. The north hosts the industrial and financial rot of our empire. The south hosts most of the energy infrastructure of the US. I could go on.

Things are quite different now. Not saying it would come to that, but just sayin....... Can't run tanks on biofuels and credit derivatives.

LOL thats what ole jonny reb said the first time

Jonny reb said the north was full of dandies and bankers that didn't know how use guns. Jonny reb said he could whip 20 yankees at once.

Where was this outrage when Bush was in office?

And what happens if another group of people who are from the same states start a petition saying that they DON'T want to secede with the US?

This is idiotic all around.

The people of Texas would have less rights under a state controlled govt than they do under the fed. Women not in control of their own bodies, young girls getting forced injections of STD drugs, religion running the govt if they had their way. Did you watch Rick Perry make a fool of himself in front of the whole nation? That's their Golden boy. Along with....Georgie. Yeah I'm sure they'd do a better job of taking care of themselves. They'd be deporting Mexicans, yeah sure lots of new job for Texans who want to re-roof a house when it's 105* degrees, probably at least 130 or so on the roof for less than $10 per hour. Do we really want to get into the economic implications of a state seceding? They bring it up every 4 years it seems. I wonder how new york and new jersey would be doing right now without federal monies. Did you see Christie all over obamas junk after the storm?

I have lived over there. Born over there actually (UAE). Yeah they are fucked. Way fucked

That doesn't mean we can't exert our right to protest against fucked up shit over here. That's what America was founded on. Protest and revolution against centralized power. Don't like that? Too fucking bad......basically.

"Don't like it? Get the fuck out."--- That's exactly what these petitions are for.

you're right, but my problem is that if the state(s) secedes, it's residents are forced to go along or move. not everyone has the ability to move because a few disenfranchised sore losers can't accept what a majority of the nation actually wanted.

if people were able to just up and move without going broke i'd be in portugal by now, because the u.s.'s herb laws were not in favor of the few who wanted change.

i understand dissidence is almost required in a truly free nation, but to "force" everyone who is unwilling to agree with you to either move or conform is egotistical, and irrational.

.

Hard to tell what the majority of a nation wants when only 43% of the actual electorate vote.

Ever heard of the silent majority?

Actually it tells me alot, they are sick of the current bread and circus show...

And neither the giant douche or the turd sandwich was appeasing.

Not sure if it was posted already but what I seemed to pull off the web stated "The petitions are mostly symbolic, as the U.S. Supreme Court ruled state secession unconstitutional in 1868" If states tried to forcefully remove themselves from the union I am sure the Federal Government would just send in troops like they do for every other situation. The only way blood would get spilled is if the state declared it wanted to secede and the Governor tried to activate the National Guard to accomplish this. Just my thoughts.

Don't you see the problem?

not everyone has the ability to move because a few disenfranchised sore losers can't accept what a majority of the nation actually wanted.

What makes you think the majority of the nation wants to see our country run into the dirt? Because that's exactly what will happen under another four years of Obama. In all fairness we would be in the exact same boat if it were Romney, except it'd be the "other half" who is up in arms and being called sore losers by the others. Either way--we a divided nation that is going to tear itself apart one way or another. It's been this way since the country was founded. The Civil War wasn't the first nor was it the last time states have tried to secede or talked about it.

Aren't people right now being forced to conform or leave ? If I don't agree with the tyrannical and fascist Federal government, where do I move to?

Yeah, but they won't ever let it rest, because they are so stupid and racist. Yeah, I said that shit.

p.s.- Let Texas secede, then we can declare war on 'em, and kick their asses!

Yeah it's obviously the racists in Washington State, Colorado, and Montana who are driving this.

lol good luck with that

That argument and narrative sounds similar to something Cartman from South Park would say.

Great cartoon analysis. Carry on.

Man, is this just plain stupid. Just sounds to me like another bunch of Republican whining that we've all heard before. And no, I'm not some "blue-dog Democrat" to quote that asshole Rush or some other label maker, I'm a registered independent, thank you very much.

actually ginger, i don't see the problem.....i say fuck the "silent majority!" they had a chance to vote, and didn't, or did and lost in both areas. they lost the popular vote, and electorate and now they wanna bitch. well guess what? too fucking bad! i had to deal with 8 years of an inept president who can't even invade the RIGHT country and then lie about shit to justify his ineptness, then those who signed the petitions can deal with the choices the country made when they had a chance to vote. we are ALL forced to deal with the hands we were dealt, this is no different.

i'm not exactly pleased with the direction this country has gone, but imo it didn't start 4 years ago. it started 12 years ago, and is finally heading away from bankers ruining shit, or from war profiteers making billions from the blood of our soldiers.

if i was able to move, i'd probably go to portugal, or france maybe. just my $0.02 though.

If you think Obama is going to bring us less war or less profiteering, you are naive.

I agree that Obama is not the root of our problems, and he certainly didn't start them. He has perpetuated them though. What you're seeing here is not anger from "sore losers" losing. (Great way to calm shit down right? Laughing at people's legitimate anger and calling them sore losers?) They're angry from the system being fucked up for so long with no end in sight.
