I'd give it a try, but have yet to find a source of P.E. clean enough.
Ol cookie isn't going to use the stuff from the auto parts store. hehehe
How easy is it to evaporate? About the same as alcohol?

Im sure its a fine solvent for hash oil, but its hard to come by lab grade, as you have, and OTC pet ether is very dirty. Lab grade PET ether also goes by the synonym of ligroin. PET ether isnt chemically an ether at all. The "hippies" would typically use di-ethyl ether to make hash oil in the 60's and 70's, it was freely available then. PET ether is very closely related to naptha, which is a bit lighter and more volatile. Clean naptha is available otc, for what its worth, even the large cans of VP naptha are fairly clean. For very clean naptha you can get "Energine" spot remover. Its about $4 for a 6oz can at hardware stores. It is a very clean naptha. We use it for other extractions of interesting compounds all the time such as DMT from mimosa hostilis.
Many solvents are suitable for hashoil; availability, safety, and purity are usually the key deciding factors.

pet ether isnt nearly as explosive as real "ether", di-ethyl ether, is and of course not as volatile as butane, but being a stoner, I would always do these things outdoors so as not to end up in the news. the 3 reports of explosions/fires with butane are from messing with it inside.
i did it inside with butane hundreds of times at my old house. even on the red hot stove element, i set the dishes of liquid butane. even that doesnt set it off. crazy, but true.

Now watch, some crazy fool will experience the "ball of fire" effect in their kitchen. Where people go wrong is "thinking" they turned off all ignition sources........but there's that forgotten pilot light or ancient appliance that sparks when it kicks on.

Ok so second time around which is tonite. I extracted into my pyrex dish outside on my patio I did 3 runs emptyied 320 ml of Vortex butane emptied that can dumped the extracted buds then restuffed it 2 more times and extracted another 320 ml of vector butane.
So after doing that I bring the shit in and I already had my hot water almost boiling turned it off and set my dish like double broiler style. After a bit I turn on the gas stove again to heat the water up again and popped my bubbles and a second later big old fire ball shit caught on fire singed my hairs off again. Why is the fireball happening??
Chief is it just not kool to do this shit with a gas stove. call me dumb but I think i might blow myself up.. Most of all how do you put the fire out i threw a big old towl over it and it still had a hard time going out..
The oil turned out really good both times I got a lot this run..Its really golden honey looking but I dont think i have ever been so stoned in such a while. I just put it on top of a bowl is that the best way to smoke it..

my buddy had a plate of butane catch fire on his stove, cuz the food under the element caught fire. but no one got badly burned at all... go figure. no fireball even, it just burned like a plate of lighter fluid would, apparently.
