peruvian seabird guano VS bat guano

Greetings peeps! After searching a bit I noticed more growers using bat guano over seabird guano...

My buds looking for a low maintenance organic fert that doesnt attract critters (pref nothing with blood meal) anyone have experience with peletized seabird guano 10-10-2 veg and fossilized seabird guano 1-10-1 flower? Is the bat shit better, will either attract critters? :pimp3:

thanks!

i am using sb guano for my flowering. i was told by my mento that bat guano high in p is better. im gonna get some this weekend although im already 5.5 weeks into flowering. the thing that struck me abou the two is the amount that can be used. on the package of sb guano it says i can use 1/2 to a cup of sb guano per gallon. damn that seems like a lot. although i dont have high p bat guano so im not sure how much of that per gallon can be used. ill find out soon enough though when i go out and get some. :joint:

The seabird guano is only part of a complete nute recipe. If you use guanos, you'll need a high N guano to go with the seabird guano in veg and a high P guano to go with the seabird guano in flower. You'll also need a potassium source like seaweed/kelp. Here are some recipes for guano tea and kelp to get you started...

Seedlings less than 1 month old nute tea mix-
5 tbs. Black Strap Molasses
1-cup earthworm castings/5 gallons of water every 3rd watering

Veg mix-
1/3 cup Peruvian Seabird Guano (PSG)
1/3 cup High N Bat Guano (Mexican)
1/3 cup Earth Worm Castings (EWC)
5 tsp. Maxicrop 1-0-4 powdered kelp extract
5 tbs. Liquid Karma
5 tbs. Black Strap Molasses
@ 1-cup mix/5 gallons of water every 3rd watering.

Flowering nute tea mix:
2/3 cup Peruvian Seabird Guano
2/3 cup Earth Worm Castings
2/3 cup High P Guano (Indonesian or Jamaican)
5 tbs. Maxicrop 1-0-4 powdered kelp extract
5 tbs. Black Strap Molasses
@ 2 cups/5 gallons of water EVERY watering.
You can use queen size knee high nylon stockings for tea bags. 3 pair for a dollar at the dollar store. Tell 'em you use them for paint strainers. Put the recommended tea in the stocking, tie a loop knot in it and hang it in your tea bucket. The tea should look like a mud puddle. Agitate the bag in the water vigorously. An aquarium pump and air stone will dissolve oxygen into the solution and keep the good bacteria (microherd) alive and thriving. Let it bubble a day or two before you use it. If you find you are making too much tea and having to throw it out, use 2 1/2 gallons of water and cut the nute amount by half.

...All this need to be used with a good living soiless medium full of humic acids to buffer pH, perlite for drainage and dolomite lime for calcium, magnesium and pH adjustment...

LC’s Soiless Mix #1:
5 parts Canadian Spaghnam Peat or Coir or Pro-Moss
3 parts perlite
2 parts wormcastings or mushroom compost or home made compost
Powdered dolomite lime @ 2 tablespoons per gallon or 1 cup per cubic foot of the soiless mix.
...Check the link in my sig line below for cheap earthworm castings. Free shipping to the eastern USA.

Or, if you use Pro Mix or Sunshine Mix...
LC's Soiless Mix #2:
6 parts Pro Mix BX or HP / Sunshine Mix (any flavor from #1 up)
2 parts perlite
2 parts earthworm castings
Powdered dolomite lime @ 2 tablespoons per gallon or 1 cup per cubic foot of the soiless mix.
If you use a 3 qt. saucepan as “parts” in the amounts given above, it equals about 1 cu. ft. of soiless mix and you can just dump in a cup of powdered dolomite lime.

My bad. :bat:

lol ok after looking it up peruvian sb guano is high in both n and p(10-10-1) so why do you have to add in veg a high n bat guano or any high n for that matter. isnt that nitrogen overkill to get it both from the bat guano and pervuian seabird guano.

You want your N-P-K ratio in veg to be around 3-1-2 and 1-3-2 in flower. You still need some nitrogen in flower and phosphorous in veg.

our own personal observations have led us to believe that seabird guanos are slightly more biologicially active . . .
that is they seem to carry more beneficial bacteria etc . . .

this observation comes from brewing teas of both kinds side by side . . . the bird guano seems to really "come alive" when brewing . . .

much thanks all! looks like itll be sb guano flint ....

was looking to keep it simple...would this work burn?...a mix of sunshine mix, perlite, dolomite lime, seabird guano 10-10-2 and seaweed/kelp for more P veg.

fossilized SB guano 1-10-1 with a little of the 10-10-2 added to bring up the N and some seaweed/klp for extra P ...this added for flower

Careful with the pelletized guano in any soil mix, it has a tendency to create hot spots. I found undissolved pellets 2 cycles after adding them to soil. Since then I have moved to brewing them in teas exclusively, and as theFlinstoners say they are magic in a bucket. Its a nice general purpose tonic, with a little kelp or molasses to get more K and secondary/trace into the mix. I have also chopped up the pellets in a clean dedicated coffee grinder to produce a powder, that goes well into compost/soil mixes. Hope that helps.

Those cheap Mr. Coffee grinders are the shit! I use them for everything.

I love the Peruvian guano, i even have a tshirt of it.

I have heard some people gripe that the Peruvian guano is pelletized... no biggie.
When i make tea I add in 2/3 cup into half a gallon bucket with a flat bottom. then i use something with a flat bottom to crush it while in solution.
please please please do not try to crush the guano dry... inhaling it is a pretty bad idea. if you have to crush it dry... wear a mask, crush it in a bag, whatever it takes.

and when you make peruvian guano tea, the pH comes out around 8 or so... fulvic acid can lower it a bit, but you probably need to pH it down a bit.

peace

very good advice pineappaloupe . . . dusts from bird guano aren't anything to be fooling around with . . . they can cause significant lung irritation and/or bronchitis . . . and for those with impared immune systems . . . it's REALLY dangerous . . .

we'd also like to add that it's also wise to make sure that bird guano dusts don't get into any open sores / breaks in skin / cuts etc. . . . that's very much true for ANY manure or compost product . . .

when we tell folks to stay safe out there . . . it really does mean more than just making sure your grows are secure . . . it also is a nod to safety precautions in the garden too . . .

stay safe and keep on growing!

Wanna know something weird?!?!............I don't use guano! No rhyme or reason other than lazziness and money. So far I've gotten by good with constant composting of varied fruits, veggies and other stuff.

i us it pelletized and just add to a womens stocking with worm casings and it will desolve after a day or two. all the goodys are relessed into the water and the only thing left is some mineral and stony deposits left.

I use indo bat guano in flower and mexican bat guano for veg... occaisionally,
maybe twice a grow i use alaskan fish fertlizer. This seems to be quicker acting although not sure if its actually better.. I only use it in teas but let it brew loose in my buckets.. the leftover sludge after feeding i sometimes use for top dressing.. occaisional liquid kelp and some epsom salts the plants seem to love it.. The indo and mexican guano i use 1 tbsp per gallon.

If you can get Neptune's Harvest products in your area, they make a great fish/seaweed liquid nute. It's 2-3-1 Fish/Seaweed and they also have 2-4-1 Fish. I have had great results from these products. Use as directed on the label.
