Perscription Meds In Your Tap Water!?

Check this link out, I was shocked to find that I could be drinking or brushing my teeth with water that contained all kinds of different medications in it! Check out these quotes....

"A vast array of pharmaceuticals — including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones — have been found in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans..."

"In the course of a five-month inquiry, the AP discovered that drugs have been detected in the drinking water supplies of 24 major metropolitan areas — from Southern California to Northern New Jersey, from Detroit to Louisville, Ky."

"Water providers rarely disclose results of pharmaceutical screenings, unless pressed, the AP found. For example, the head of a group representing major California suppliers said the public "doesn't know how to interpret the information" and might be unduly alarmed."

We're also drinking recycled piss, that's how the meds get in the water?!

"How do the drugs get into the water?

People take pills. Their bodies absorb some of the medication, but the rest of it passes through and is flushed down the toilet. The wastewater is treated before it is discharged into reservoirs, rivers or lakes. Then, some of the water is cleansed again at drinking water treatment plants and piped to consumers. But most treatments do not remove all drug residue."

I for one cannot believe this and am ashamed to say I live in the US. How can this be happening right under our noses?!

it's a lot harder to filter out the meds from water than just the bacteria, which makes it more cost effective to just filter out the bacteria. until enough people complain, it won't change, scary huh? they've been saying this is a problem for a while, especially on fish that are exposed to things like birth control medicine getting dumped into the rivers

Nothing gets your day started like a cold glass of codine first thing in the morning. And after a hard day of playing around theres nothing better than a warm glass of valuim at bedtime! :woohoo:

And to think some people in other countries dont even have meds or drinking water. Only in America!

Fortunately we're in the clear, but still - this is some crazy shit. I mean rumors about lithium & prozac in the water have always circulated amongst some of the more paranoid conspiracy theorists, but damn, they're drinking estrogen out there in SoCal. All I can think is... what's next?

I would be concerned about the sodium fluroide in the water too.

Its known to be as toxic as lead and mercury and is a waste product from the production of aluminium.

I recently bought a RO filter to remove this poison from my drinking water.

Picked it up on ebay for bout $200.

I remember reading that drinking tap water could start sterilizing men because the hormones from womens birth control cannot be filtered out, so guys you are all on a bit of the pill. . .

Same situation here. No chlorine or Chloroamines added to my water. Only drawback is my water is super super hard with a high amount of dissolved minerals.

Good for drinking, not good for washing machines/dish washers.

This site is stupid if the are going to censor things so I'll say it again. Like thats going to make me want to donate money.

Anyway, this is further proof we need nature or god or both to sort the human race out fast.

I'm just glad I get my water from a well.

I was wondering why my tits were getting so big. Fortunately, there is always the Victorias Secret catalog. Time for a new bra!

I have hard water also, easy to solve with cartridge type filters you can put inline anywhere you like. Add a filter to the feeder lines of your appliances if you prefer the drinking water unmolested, I don't like water softeners and so won't go that route.

This just occured to me. If the process doesnt remove the drugs in the urine waste then just how much urine is also getting past it? Mmmmm, open yer mouth wide next time youre taking a shower.

for those out their who have wells, most likely u need a water-softener... if so, the salt in it isnt good for you..

those who dont... think about the farm animals around u in the country, who poop/pee in the ground... all that seeps into some where, sooner or later it will contaminate your well too....dont get cocky
