Perpetual Tent Grow Setup (Homebox)

D

Deaner

I am planning perpetual tent grow with a Homebox XS for mothers and vegging clones. A Homebox S will be used for flowering. I have already purchased the necessary equipment to get the veg chamber, and currently making plans for the flowering room. Because you guys and girls are the experts, I would appeciate any feedback, comments, or suggestions you may have to offer.

So right into the details..

Homebox XS: 1.9' x 1.9' x 3.9' (Vegging and Mothers)
Lighting: 250 Watt HPS Compact
Ventalation: 4" Axial Fan w/cord - 105 cfm
Filter: Can-Filter 9000 - 25" Carbon Filter
Air Flow: 6" Circulating Clip Fan - 120 Volt
Plants: 1 or 2 Mothers and 4 to 6 Clones

Homebox S
: 2.6' x 2.6' x 5.25' (Flowering)
Lighting: 400 Watt HPS with Remote Ballast (already own)
Ventalation: Soler and Palau TD-100 4"/100MM Inline Fan (100 CFM)
Filter: Can-Filter 9000 - 25" Carbon Filter
Air Flow: 6" Circulating Clip Fan - 120 Volt
Plants: 4 Females in 3 gallon buckets
Style: Screen of Green (ScrOG)

Specific Question:
Security is a concern, and the noise of ventalizing two grow tents poses a considerable problem & risk. So, the plan in my head is to use a Soler and Palau TD-100 4"/100MM inline fan and a 4" x 4" x 4" Y-connection to split the exhaust between the two rooms into a Can-Filter 9000 - 25" Carbon Filter. My question is, will this be enough suction to exhaust these two rooms with one inline fan into mentioned scrubber? Is it plausable? Any expereinces and input is greatly appeciated.

Once I get everything setup there will be dairy with pictures in a separate thread that I'll link to from here. I already have the Nirvana White Rhino & Afganhi seeds, and everything for the veg room is on the way.

Anyone? Any input is appreciated. Especially in respect to the power of the fan sucking air from two chambers.

Thanks.

holy shit man why all the long ass lengths of ducting with all those right angles and shit? you seem like a smart dude too. so heres the deal. right angle equals 45% reduction in air movement. the length of duct of course as well will have and impact on air movement. shorter straighter equals better. for real tho get another fan and do it up right.

MRJackHerrer - Thanks for getting back with me. The sketch is only really to give the idea. Ofcourse the ducting will be as short as possible.

I guess my real question would be, does anyone have any experience with a Soler and Palau TD-100 4"/100MM Inline Fan (100 CFM)? If so, is it powerful enough to draw air form both chambers?

think outside the box deaner and scrap that stupid idea for realz. the flower tent that is that small needs air cooled lighting with 400 watts going in there. go to the home depot and pick up a suncourt inline duct booster fan for 25 bucks to vent the xs veg tent. this may or may not even be enough to tame a 250 in the xs to a reasonable temp.
then filter-fan-light-out the flower tent with that 100 cfm fan u got cuz the flower tent gonna get stanky. pushing air into a filter is mad inefficient with only 100cfm but you could try it. you will want to be able to independently control each of those enviroments. if it is hot in there your buds wont get tight they will be all airy and shit.

are you set on the size of tents? if not i would suggest a bit bigger setup like a clonebox l and a homebox l or xl. i just always seem to complete a project and want to go bigger. just a thought. i have the clonebox l and a growlab xxl or 120l for those being technical. i feel like the clonebox could veg out my 18 plants I want to flower, but that leaves no room for the moms and cloner. so I am thinking about getting a third tent. may think of that as well. hope this helped some. any more ?s, shoot. peace smoke.

Thanks for the input. I am content on the size of the tents as they will be in a smaller sized closet. The veg chamber will go from clone to full veg, with a mother plant. The Homebox XS tent will have four in veg, and one mother.

So, scrapping my original plan based in your suggestions, would two S&P TD-100 fans be sufficient (one for veg, and one for flower) - both blowing air into a the Can-Filter 9000? I also have an 105cfm 4" Axial fan on the way. Any input on how to implement that?

Thanks for your time and input in advance. :smoker:

ah yes i'd set the 250 and 400 both up with air cooled hoods. 1 4" fan on the veg tent no filter with harbor freight router speed controller. (veg tents are not all that stinky usually)
1 dedicated 4" fan on the 400 hood to can filter running all the time the light is on with a router speed controller and a second 4" fan exhausting the tent on a thermostat that kicks on at a desired set level. 2 fans in the 400 due to size of tent being so small. all vents open at the bottom of both tents and that should do it.

MRJackHerrer - Thanks for the input, again :woohoo:

The problem is, neither of my light setups have a cool hood available. The flowering room with the 400 watt is 2.6' x 2.6' x 5.25' and I will be using the fan exclusively for this area.

Because of the temperature concerns, I ended up buying a S&P TD-125 which is 197/149 cfm switchable. Will this be enough to cool the flowering chamber? Also, will it be too much on my Can-Filter 9000?

Thanks again! I just want to get this right!

i have a dr 120 tent with a S+P 6 inch, with the bigger ducting and a muffler on the end it's pretty darn quiet, considering how loud the fan is to start with. with reasonable ambient temperatures(important)i figure youll be fine. looks like a good set up to be honest; i would have worried a smidge but now with the 5" id bet on success. gl mang

ninjaedit - if you want to be sure, why not get the 6" and wrap it in insulation. No if's or buts, itll work lol

volume equals l x w x h or 2.6 x2.6 x 5.25 roughly 80 square ft. you are gonna wanna clear the room roughly every nimute or two. so the answer is theoretically yes this will work with 100cfm fan to clear at least once a minute resulting in good negative pressure. and yes that is the fan cfm recommended by can for the 9000 about 142cfm so it should work for smells but id imagine there are gonna be heat issues still. espeically since you are putting the tents in the confines of the closet.

I'd go with a 4" fan w/ 9000 in the flower tent.
and a small 95cfm squirell cage blower w/ can filter 2600 in the smaller tent (if needed).

Put the filters INSIDE the tents - pulling through the filter and blowing out and AWAY from the tents (and that surrounding closet).

Anything less then the above is reinventing the wheel so to speak and is just unnecessary expiramintation in my opinion.

best of luck with your perpetual tents..sounds like a ton of fun. thinking about setting up two 600w tents so I can harvest 1 every 4 weeks like clockwork.

peace

Yo PonicallyMade what'd you end up with on that 9 light 5400 watt ebb&flo? Pics were amazin but you never updated your thread after 6-6-09. Surely its cut and dry isnt it. Sorry ta interupt your thread Deaner, many apolagies. Peace an pot!!!!

Thanks for the input everyone. I am perfecting the plan as we speak.

Any tips on rigging up an Axail fan without light leaks?
