What's up icmaggers, im building a side by side grow box and trying to figure out if I need to build a electrical box or just use a power strip?
The box is going to be 6'h x 6'L x 3'w.
here is a list of what I'll be plugging up in the box.

400w (maybe 600w) hps for flower
3 single t5 fixtures for side lighting also for flower
4 bulb t5 light setup for veg
Probably a can fan for hps cooling
Two small desk fans
Ballest
6 maybe 8 PC fans
I think that's about it lol

I would suggest that you set a small subpanel to power things with. If there is a drier or range circuit nearby, you could even power the sub with an appropriate cordset from one of the big box stores. This way you can run dedicated circuits to various components and isolate things that need it.

Something to keep in mind is that for most of us, our grow areas are continually evolving. If you build things to only accommodate your current or foreseeable needs, you are going to limit your flexibility down the road.

A subpanel is a small electrical load center that can support from approximately 2 to 20 circuits. For our purposes, the panel would be placed in a convenient spot local to the grow, and would typically be fed with anywhere from 30-100 amps. They can be built into the wall, or as I mentioned above, kept semi-portable and fed with a range or dryer cable.

There are many examples in the following thread, and probably a lot of information that would be of help to you - https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=117867.

excellent advice about the evolution of our set-ups, i haved kicked myself in the ass many times for not leaving room for expansion and upgrades thanks Rives
