No idea about wiring and was just wondering what type of wire do I use or can I use any type of electrical cable ie any thickness or does it have to be as slim as the fan wires, to extend the lenght of the cable between the fan and the adaptor 2 keep everything neat as possible?

cloneX,

PC fans are usually 12-volt DC low current items. Any pair of wires as large or larger than the wire on the fan should work. Most any of the 12-volt chargers for anything will work to power it. Check to see if they have the number of milliamps on the charger, more is better, up to a point. If you run wire too far the fan will slow down, but 6 feet or so shouldn't be a problem. Reversing the wires will reverse the air flow.
