make a little strap of metal that goes across the top supports and hang the light from that, or gut the old power supply mount the ballast inside it and mout the light socket to the outside of the power supply housing.
I still want to know whats the most one of you PC Growers have yielded out of one of these???????

gulimax just use pc fans, you can get them in dc if you already have a power supply or ac if you just wanna plug them into the wall. a couple should handle all teh cooling you need.

i dont know why it would matter if the bulb is on a timer or photocell...unless they are prone to fire? lol
cfl's cant be dimmed, because the ballast in the bulb needs specific voltage. as far as a timer is concerned it should be fine as long as its a peg type timer, sometimes digital timers freak out from the rfi the ballast produces.

Can anyone confirm what kind of yield you could expect from a PC grow? It seems i've read countless grow diaries on them but there always seems to be an "if" or something has gone wrong during .
Is an ounce or more a reasonable expectation?

Its all what you make of it. SOG or Scrog is a big helper. Also grow enough plants to have your space filled out after males are removed.
It hard to confirm a yield number because it varies so greatly. Take a look at Dr. Bud Greengenes thread if you want to see the best case scenario.
If you absolutely need a number just multiply plant numbers by a few grams, that is probably all you should expect, a few grams a plant. you may get a 1 gram a plant or probably around 5-8g maybe even 15 if done really really well.
Its all about grower skill and a good single cola strain.

Hello everyone.
These case grows are awesome. Ive decided to build one of my own. The difference between mine and the rest is that i will be growing inside a case with a working computer inside as well. I realize how limited the space will be. I have a 21in tall computer case. I have been researching and thinking long and hard on how to make it work
Here are a few things i think i need to change to be successful:
-Use LED lighting. LED lights will allow me to move much closer to my plants without burning. AS well, they will save energy and emit much less heat.
-Grow 12/12. I'm guessing i will need to grow the 12/12 method to force the plant to branch out less and grow shorter.
-Use a lowryder cross strain. I'm trying to get some auto AK47. It is the same height as lowryder but not really shitty weed like lowryder.
-Use ALOT of ventilation. Since i need to put carbon filters over my openings, i will need to increase my ventilation and intake as well. Not to mention the added heat of the computer. I am not sure how much it will take, or if simply adding more fans will work. If anyone has a solution here, let me know.
-Keep the plants off the stuff. I don't want my computer getting messed up by the plant, especially getting condensation or sticky stuff all over my computer parts. For this, i am not sure what to do either. I have thought about building an altogether separate box inside my tower which has an intake and a carbon filter output which would solve all my problems. Except one, the space issue.
As well as being unsure of a few of those, im sure there are many problems i must address that i have not yet thought of or forgot to list.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I ordered my computer today so i should be able to update you with more detailed information on Friday when it arrives. Then i can figure out what is left of the case, and how i can deal with some of my problems.

Working computer? Too much heat just from it + bulbs. LED? Too expensive with small results
You don't need autoflowering strain. Just go with 12/12 on some indica strain. If you really wan't AF strain, go with Lowryder #2
I don't think it will be a success with working computer, but give it a try - you might end up with most stealthier micro grow ever)

For an AF - I've done Dieselryder - wasn't too shabby considering it had only sunlight and water. No nutes whatsoever.
Doesn't get big, easily manageable, but not massively powerful, if that's what you're looking for.

LED bulbs aren't really as efficent as a CFL and are overpriced still... this is my
opinion and i am sure someone isn't going to like it but there are no proven
results with a CFL there have been great results.
check for it online or in a hydrostore if you have one close by but when you
start 12/12 in a PC i highly reccommend bushmaster, its easier that looking
for lowryder and will stop most strains from the stretch
With 2 100w equiv CFLs i pulled in just under a half an oz... w/ full LST.
and most cases will vent with a single exhaust (PCfan) however if you are going for
covert you are going to need a carbon scrubber like you said, however in
my pc i wish i had simply used ONA (odor nuetralizing agent.) You can stick this
gel that evaporates over about a month either inside the case with the plants
or just in your room be warned however, the final product may not smell too
strong because of this however but thc is uneffected and your case smells like
cotton linen!
Carbon scrubber will preserve the fragrant smell however...
Good luck with all and rmember to post some lovely pictures
