Hey guys, I'm new here and am doing a server grow, hopefully I can get 3 females in this beast.

I was having temp problems with the damn thing, but today I had some plexiglass cut for me, just the 19 dollar peice of plexi lowered my temps from 91 to 78 degrees! That's freakin awesome.

This is my first grow, I'll get some pics up for you guys tomorrow. It is going to be an LST/ScROG grow. I have been reading for hours on end about this stuff, I feel like a veteran already. :headbange

why in the **** are my temps so high???

why in the **** are my temps so high???

Hey,

okay I bought a PC case off someone on a certain forum. It originally had 92 watts of lighting HPS/CFL 1 bulb of each and temps were at 82 F tops. The HPS ballast ****ed up, so I thought I'd use a single CFL. I first tried a 105 CFL, and temps were way high, to the likes of 105 F. Now, I just got an 85 watt bulb. Temps are at ****ing 96.5 and rising.. What gives!?! I can't figure it out, it just doesn't make any god damn sense. Can I get some advice?

There are two computer fans in this bitch. one for intake, one out take. I'd have to look up exactly how powerful they are. I guess this serves me ****ing right for buying a pc case growbox..

By the way dimensions are 18" W, 18 1/2" L, 21" H. so about 1 1/2 sq. feet.. i guess.

Hey man. I was having big time temp problems with my case as well, here's some tips for ya.

-Get 1 or 2 more exhaust fans
-Place an oscillating fan in front of your case to help with air flow to the intake
-PLEXIGLASS - this was a life saver for me. My temps dropped 15 degrees with the addition of plexiglass 1 inch underneathe my CFLs. Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and have them cut some plexiglass to the dimensions of your case. It only cost me 19 dollars total for the glass and the cutting job. Again I can't stress how important this is if you have high temps in your case. It saved my ass! My temps went from 92-95 to a steady 77-80.

Hope this helps!

could you link me a picture of how the plexiglass should be around the CFL? thanks, buddy. I"m thinking I could put a small oscillating fan in there. Just gotta find the right one.

Yeah sure let me go get a camera real quick.

In the mean time I'll try and explain it. Take the dimension of your case, width and depth. My case is 16 inches wide and 9 inches deep. I went to Lowe's and found a plexiglass piece that was bigger than that and had them cut it to 15x8. Then I just put the piece in the case 1 inch under the cfl's and used foil tape to secure it to the sides of the case and viola, instant 15 degree temp reduction.

The oscillating fan I use is set outside of the case in front of where the intake pulls in the air from outside the case, that helps too.

Working on the pic.

wouldn't the heat of the lights make the tape un-stick? I remember my air pump fell because I didnt have anything to hold it up, and used packaging tape. Yeah, that didn't work.

I've had the plexiglass in there for about 5 days straight now with lights on 24 hours, hasn't had any effect yet on the stickiness of the tape. The foil tape is damn durable when it comes to that, and I have a lot of tape on it holding it to the sides.

Well here's my case, I've spent quite a bit of time on it! (You can see the plexiglass in there below the CFLs)

It's a server case.

Hey everybody. I'm not growing in a pc case, but I think you guys would be the people to get some help from.

I have a 12v DC, 5A fan for my scrubber and exhaust. It's not a pc fan, but I've been using a pc power supply to run it. The other day it just stopped working. The PSU still powers the three little pc fans I have, but everytime I try to hook up the exhaust fan, it just doesn't want to start up. I even went and bought a new fan and still the same thing.

So IMO, the power supply just isn't strong enough to power the fan anymore. I have another PSU, but it's a 24 pin connector. The old PSU was just 20 and I had pin 14 shorted to turn the PSU on. I've tried every pin pair I know of to get this new PSU running without the motherboard hooked up and it doesn't work.

Here is what I've found so far: (from another site)
1 brown +3V
2 brown +3v
3 black com
4 red +5V
5 black com
6 red +5V
7 gray aux com
8 no connection
9 green +5V aux
10 orange +12V
11 pink +3V aux
12 white/red fan
13 brown +3V
14 blue -12V
15 black com
16 white (on stby)
17 black com
18 black com
19 black com
20 brown +3V
21 red +5v
22 red +5v
23 brown 3VRS (small dia wire)
24 white/blue fan sink

Pin 16 is the power on, I do believe, but I still can't get it to power up. There has to be some more wires to short or move around or something.

Has anybody got a 24 pin power supply to run without the motherboard? Please help me if ya can. BTW, the PSU is Compaq Model: 255712-002

Thanks everyone!

Will this work?
(I don't know why Icmag won't let me post link up, but check my gallery out to see my plan pictures)

The wall is just piece of wood. one side is covered with one inch thick plywood(since theres a lot of holes) and other have 1/4 of inch thick plywood on front side.

What am I planning with lights? I'm going to put a power strip in there. I'm not sure whenever it will hold 2,3 or 4 lights inside of my PC case. I might use this Sylvania 60-Watt Mini Twist Bulb at lowes. but I've heard "Soft White" lights aren't very good for vegging. I'm not sure what kind of lighting I should buy at lowes or home depot.

Any advice? I'm working on light-proofing my case, so there will be no lights escaping.
