wonderful execution lemon, the subtle details make it so great.

as dwight stated the light hood is great as is the exhaust ducting attached to the light. also the box or bin planter is a nice custom or looks to be at least.

I'd say so, mine ran somewhere in he $100 range including the case.

Very nice Lemon, what is this strain?

Thanks , the strain is Northern Lights x Cinderella 99 (NL99).

Thanks also. It worked quite well with minimum fuss. I was able to keep the light an inch away or less at all times during the grow. The case needs to have a seperate partitioned upper area for it to work though - vented out the back top.

Pic with the top slide off section removed - air was vented into the top cavity where it escaped out of the back via vent holes:

Great stuff Lemon! That as a darn nice setup you made there and the results spoke for themselves! The results from the single 105 watt CFL were quite nice and continue to reinforce the fact that you can get some really stunning results from CFLs when used in small space situations such as PC case grows :smoke:
I'm curious to see some pics from your more recent PC case grows though! The last time I looked you had a reaaaally nice clean looking setup going on and I'd love to see what's goin on in that pretty PC of yours these days.

And oh yeah, that is one cute little girl you have there Rkrone!
+K coming your way for the sheer cuteness of that little bud on a stick :biglaugh:

Edit = "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to rkrone again."

My First Harvest

My First Harvest

2x26w (100w equiv) CFLs, DWC In our server case from like 1980
Plant that takes up most of the case was vegged 3 weeks then flowered for 9 but the seedling which is harder to see we planted after the other plant vegged for 3 weeks so we flowered a seedling and a 3 week ol plant in our first grow.

The PC grower... and the plant filling the case

Our canopy just before chop, and the buds just after chop

On the left is a pic of the plant still remainng in the case with underdeveloped budsites which will remain in flower a couple weeks, and on the right our buds set to water cure

Our buds all set in the water cure... never tried water cure and we kept our plants on full strengh nutes until the end and can also use a stealthy stash..

Definately - CFL's certainly pack some more punch than a lot of people give them credit for.

Unfortunately, I didn't document that grow as I didn't have a camera at the time. The results were good, but heat was a big pain. I seem to have tested and reached the limits of the PC design.

So it's been about 2 months with my first grow and it's almost like things went from being awesome to super shitty. I LSTed my two plants and once the shoots got to a good hieght, above the bigger leafs. I slowly switched over to a 12/12. Well it's been about 2 or 3 weeks on the 12/12 and my buds looked spread out and didn't look ready to harvest. The very end of the plant has one bigger bud on it and all the other buds look like they exploded and left me with a whole bunch of powder, I'm assuming pollen? on the leaves. I have a feeling I should have gone with my gut and harvested about a week back rather than listening to my friend who's doing this with me. Did I just waste two perfectly good plants or what?

damn I didn't think such a tiny grow is possible, what kind of yield does that give? NO I did not read every page yet but I might! :)
hell you could even do this kind of grow if you had roommates in an apartment who don't smoke or aren't too friendly. sweet!

slow it down mr ballyhoo, first off you didnt really "lose" anything by not harvesting...you just brought a male to term and allowed for him to open his ballsacks (those nuggs you thought you were growing were pollen sacs) and seed the world. harvesting earlier would have done nothing to help you have some smokables, its a male, males arent good for anything other than making seeds.

all is not lost however, you have completed a grow, which is always nice. even though it didnt give you any nuggs dont get down on yourself. you gauge your flowering at around 3 weeks, the time is right for pollen dropping. your other plant-was this other plant the same as the first looks wise? im guessing yes because there is a major difference in males and females once you start flowering. females also flower for at least 8 weeks.

and here is a brief update from my thread:

just veggin and chillin after some transplants and room changes, and the pk cross is officially dead because during the reveg its lone nuggling dried up and has since been plucked and smoked.

J1MH4LPERT: Congrats on the harvest.. but it looks like one of two things from your pics.

A. You harvested too early :nono:
B. Not enough wattage.

Those buds look very premature, or underdeveloped... I would highly recommend some more power, or a longer flower period for that strain.

Congrats again,
Lift

Both plants were male and now what you are saying makes sense. I definitely learned a lot from this first grow especially the lights used and the timing. I never thought the light cycles had such an impact on the plant until I saw it happen first hand. This was merely a test to see if it was possible and if my friend and I could do it. I think I'm going to take what I've learned in both the growing process and the case building, and start a new project. I've already gotten a new case with almost double the height of my current one. I saw the light hood on the previous page and it's sparked some ideas with my sliding bar/fixture system. I'm still debating on what kind of lighting I want to do, CFLs or HPS and Metal Hallilide. The nice thing about the CFLs is that they are easy to mount. The other bulbs require me to build an entire circuit. I'm also looking at possibly doing hydro instead of potting soil. I should have the room in the case (30.5"Hx9.5"Wx20.5"L) I'm going to take my time on building this case cause if I'm building a serious setup, I want it to be clean and last. I'll post some updates as I move along with the 2.0 version of my case.

As for the plants, should I stop lighting them and just let them go or can I wait continue lighting and get some seeds out of it?

Thanks for the help guys.

you cannot get seeds for there are no females to pollinate, you can however collect some pollen and store it in like a film canister or something to use to make some seeds when you get a viable female, but after you collect pollen there is no reason to continue with growing out the males.
