Patenting Of Yoga Challenged

Well, it seems all of the ancient wisdom of India will eventually be patented. First they patented the many uses of the Neem tree, then they patented the wonderful medicinal effects of turmeric. Now this prick Bikram Chaudhary has applied for a patent for doing yoga in a steam bath. I stumbled on this story reading the latest edition of the newspaper India This Week but have yet to find any online version of the story to post a link to. I guess this is the new type of imperialism conquering a foreign culture's ancient intellectual property through patenting.

Bikram Chaudhary is a bit of a prick but his yoga style is being copied all over the place without any props being given to him. I don't think any yoga form should be patented though. Bikram is for sure an innovator.

yoga is 5000 years old ....and Bikram is an innovator...lol....give me a break

"his style of yoga" ...lol

any yogi (a teacher or practicer of yoga) who is in it for the money is not an yogi, he is a businessman (and so different morals, ideals, goals and rules apply)....

Patenting yoga (or any part of it) is like Patenting the missionary position..ha.. ha..and in this case yoga is a virgin and the Patent is nympho whore with a bad heart

go to www.yoga.org.nz and you'll find the free yoga beginner's instruction video

download the 70 minute vid, follow along with it everyday and I promise your quality of life will improve.

........about two years ago.....at the time I was suffering my worst bout of lower back pain, sciatica ..I had suffered lower back pain for decades..and let me tell you, that sciatica pain was like a short sharp spasm of pain from the back of my upper thigh to my lower leg that dropped me my knees, that pain is like nothing else, sort of like a jolt of lightning or a knife running down your leg..so intense that it makes you momentarilly paralysed

I was housebound for a month ....and when the pain was finally became becoming less frequent Bubbleman suggested yoga and this free video

I started yoga...and haven't had more than twinge of back pain since...

the quote below is from that site.

happy inhaling and exhaling!

I've tried Bikram's "style" of yoga.

It's a crock & he can keep it, I'd rather not risk heat exhaustion in a steam room.

Now, Ashtanga, there's a yoga style to whip you into shape.

with some styles of yoga the poses are held for minutes..in other styles the poses continuously flow from one to the next..all styles are good, all will take you to the same place...try to find a teacher you can relate to, who you connect with ..who teaches a style that you like.

yoga makes you feel good..and is ideal for guys who spend far too much time sitting in front of a pc

yoga is very smoker friendly too...sometimes I , like to have a little puff before doing yoga, though it doesn't improve my balance

bikram is not a crock...u won't get heat exhaustion if u bring a big bottle of water with u and don't do every single pose ur first time there...believe u me if u do bikram for a month it is way good for u, ur doing yoga and doing hardcore detox for ur skin and other organs in that heat...

i personally like bikram b/c u don't have to be gumby to do the shit but if u get real good at it there are like 3 or 4 poses that can be extremely difficult if u want to do the most intense pose...that ashtanga stuff varies too much from class to class, bikram is the same everytime so u get into more of a routine...

i'm patenting all known and unknown uses of the female cannabis plant. i am also considering patenting the human cardiovascular system, the eyeball, and all uses of O2 gas. i don't think i will be buying any more NRS product once this all goes through.

ok since you forced my hand ray...

i patent the dense particle ball that caused the big bang and created everything including all of us. so i regretfully must inform you all that your unlicensed existence is in violation of my exclusive arrangement. please understand that intellectual property theft is a very serious crime. i advise every living organism to get in touch with my lawyers, immediately, to see if we can resolve this amicably.

yours,
