Passive Hydro Bucket

Hi guys. I'm not a new grower, but I started this thread in the noob forum because I am entirely new to this technique - a technique newbies and vets alike should be aware of as a simple alternative to soil.

Can someone please give me a walk-thru on how to set up a Passive Hydro Bucket? (I read Hempy's tutorial, but couldn't make any sense of his writing)

Let's say I buy a bucket at the local discount store. A bag of perlite.

What else would I need?

I have a tent and I grow in soil. I want to add 1 Passive Hydro Bucket to my setup, as a test.

One more question... I have height limits. I understand that plants grow more vigorously in hydro, as you can't really contain the roots like you can in soil. What's the best way to control a plant's overall size in a hydro bucket, so it doesn't overgrow your space 50X over!?!?

Well, if that doesn't make sense, I can't help ya.
1. Get a bucket.
2. Poke a hole in it.
3. Put yer plant in it.
4. Everything else is like every other method out there. Apply nutrients, h2o and light as needed.

As to your specific questions-
Trim the roots when you re-pot, and right before you go into flower. For height issues, tie 'em down.

Next!

To me passive hydro means no or few moving parts. I use something called a PPK and its just pot of coco with a wick suspended above a reservoir. No air or water pumps. Only moving part is a float valve to maintain the proper nute level.

I have severe(15") height limits:

You control height with genetics, a short veg and LST.

For more info on the PPK see my sig. Good luck,
