Paranoia?

First off, I'm a legal grower in a MMJ legal state. I"m well under my stem count, tho "usable" weight might be a bit of a vex given the loose consideration of what's "Usable"

None the less, I've been doing this for 2+ years as a hobbyist for the sheer enjoyment of growing such an interesting plant.

Security has always been high on my list, my neighbors are what I'd call "friends" but only one of them knows we grow MMJ.

My biggest problem is being so close to a main drag,... if someone turns off when getting pulled over by LEO,.... guess where they stop!? Yeah, right in my front yard :

I've never been much paranoid about the room since it's small (<2kw) and legal, plus scent is easily handled with a carbon filter,.... However, I compost clippings after I run them thru bubble bags, as well as dirt from spent grows, and add to it that my drying cab wasn't filtered and that would make the house REEK of weed!

My wife was always opposed to filtering the drying cab (under the stairs to the basement where the room is) because I'd have to tap a hole in another wall to run ducting for filtration.

After harvesting yesterday, I did just that without her permission. The house reeked,... I could smell it outside! So I did what needed to be done. :tiphat:

I'd say my work did it's job tonight tho!:dance013:

As I said, close to main drag,... well what do you know, tonight somebody F'd up and got stopped,..... then a second unit showed up, and the driver was detained (bear in mind this is all going down 30 feet from my grow!) Then a 3rd unit showed up with a fuckin DOG!!!!!!!!!

My heart has never raced like it did tonight, legal in the state or not, my local city refuses to acknowledge the voter's rights and has banned all MMJ activity.

I have no idea if the dog alerted on the house because we played it off like it was a normal stop which happens at least 2-3 times a month here and weren't watching the entire stop like a spy.

I seriously just hope I'm paranoid and we don't get a knock on the door any time soon!

Thanks man,

It was pretty much routine, cept for the dog which is buggin me.

We've had as many as 4 stops right out front in a single night,.... but this one to my knowledge was the first one where a dog was brought in!

What's the wall made of, dry wall, masonry...? One extra hole or possibly get raided. Maybe a scrubber or Ona will help drying tent as well.

thanks for sharing, and stay safe.

wow the drying room is like the place where the most intense smell happens right after the actual trimming which creates the most smell of any part of growing. i tend to dry my bud under my growing table. that way they are in the flowering room with the filter taking care of smell. in fairness the intense smelling part of drying is over in a few days, but those days are all it takes. to me that's not a secure room. it should never smell of cannabis, not even for 3 days every 3 months lol. 1 whiff is enough to let someone know whats up. from that time on they will just assume you are growing, even if it's not smelling anymore, they will think you had a filter fail or other ventilation failure. so good move getting that drying area scrubber up and running. lets hope everything is cool. just imagine how that dog would have reacted if you hadn't put that scrubber in the dry room. i don't think the dog is trained to concentrate on far away smells? dont they normally get the dog very close to use his drug detecting skills?

Don't answer the door.Always talk to leo outside. Also bugged about the dog...maybe,since your location seems to be a traffic stop spot, toss a bud in the street. When they bring a dog next time it will hit on the scent on the street instead of your grow...keeping leo off your property.Had a knock and talk 10+years ago and never let leo in.never came back with a warrant.never had anything happen since.Sending you positive thoughts.

My thoughts are that it's all a game to the dog. If he picks up a scent and knows he will get a reward/treat for leading them to it he will.

Thanks to all for the positive vibes! I think they helped, it's harvest week here, so increased activity of LEO out front is unnerving to say the least.

Tonight while I was trimming yet ANOTHER vehicle was impounded out front, tho there were no dogs this time.

I think the city is doing a DUI sting on one of the local dive bars up the block since one of the 2 riders stopped tonight lost his bike and left in cuffs.

This is my thought on the training too, but in the right wind I'm sure my compost heap might be a big target for that dog to smell, and if the handler knows the dog at all they might pick up on it. If they did, and the dog lead them to the heap where they found anything, it would be illegal search, but the courts have a bad habit of ignoring that fact.

My thoughts are that it's all a game to the dog. If he picks up a scent and knows he will get a reward/treat for leading them to it he will.

Again, like I said above, I think it's more on the handler. I really hope that the dog didn't alert on the house and raise suspicion. He/she never moved towards the house that I saw, and the handler had the animal almost in contact with the car/ inside of the car looking for the alert sign.

I've always thought I was fairly discrete, but never had it tested like that! Thank the gods I passed! Because it's a headache I really don't need.

It sounds like your just in a bad location. If he would have made an alert you would probably know it by now, but it sounds like you have all your scrubbers in order, and if the dog was that close and didn't smell it I guess that would be the ultimate test. Best wishes & stay safe!

Yeah, when we bought the house it certainly WASN'T for any thoughts of growing!!

After the wife got her card and I saw how much she was paying at the dispensary I called BS and got some lights!

I've always had a green thumb, so WTF? right?

Well, now 2 years later I'm a caregiver and provide for 3 patients.... one of which is on edibles, so I'm allowed up to 40 plants just for him. Don't need that many, and thus don't grow that many.

None the less come harvest time I've got more bud around the house than I care to admit to on the interwebs, and it would look really bad to an officer and his dog.

Canniwhatsis, You might think about burying that trash you have left over from your bubble bags, instead of composting it, or take it and drop it into a dumpster somewhere..you do not live near! Just a thought for your own peace of mind! I hope my posts help you out! monkey5

Given my location, i've actually considered this!

However in mid suburbia, one can't dispose of a trash bag without being noticed...

maybe let bubble hash rests rot in a trash bag triple bagged and dispose of it when it's an unrecognizable slimy mess, only takes a month or 2 for it to decompose enough that you can compost it without chance of it being recognized.
