Paradise's Nebula - Soil all the way!

Hi ya all!

For this spring I found a couple of old feminised Nebula seeds from my old seed stash. These were leftovers from a 5-pack I ordered from Mandala seed shop well over a year ago. I'll be growing these two Nebulas along with some A.M.S from GHS and Grapefruit from FMS. There's a thread for the AMS grow in the Green House Seeds vendor forum. Check it out too!

I germinated the seeds using the wet paper towel method. This has worked for me every time, even with old seeds like these. Both seeds cracked in 48h and right after that I planted them in soil. I use small drinking cups for the seedling stage, and for lights fluorescents total of 90W. Lights on 24h thru the whole veg stage.

Here they are 12 days old

After two weeks I repotted to 5ltr containers and placed them under a 600w Sylvania GroLux hps. My soil is quite nutrient rich right from the start, so no nutes at all for the first three weeks or so. Only couple of drops of Hesi Super Vit / 10ltr water and some nitric acid to adjust ph to about 6.5

Now they are 23 days old and growing like grazy! I just feeded them for the first time. Mixed a light solution using Hesi TNT (25ml to 10ltr of water) also gave them their first dose of enzymes, and of course the Super Vit.

Jump in for the ride!
I'll upload some current pics tomorrow..

They look really nice P. I grew Nebula a while back and from what I can remember she was good on the potency aspect, just don't feed her any nitrogen when you put them into flower or they tend to put out an overabundance of leaf in the bud.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replys everyone!

Welcome aboard theregoesjojo! I have to pm you about some seeds that I have. It's my own cross of Nebula and Hashberry. You said that you would really like to try some Paradise genes, so maybe I could mail some of those for you. As you had such a bad luck with your earlier ones..

Yep scaramanga, they are a bit nitrogen sensitive. Last time I grew them, I remember giving them a lagre dose of N right before flowering, and they streched like grazy! But once they got over that the budding was really nice. They do seem to suck up nutes better than SensiStar though, which I found to be very nute sensitive. I have a pic from this old grow, it's about 6-7 weeks into flowering with some burn from the lights cause she was so tall

madgravity34 I'm not sure about the genetics of Nebula. I've heard it's Haze crossed with WhiteWidow. As always Luc at Paradise Seeds does not give much of info about his strain lineage. At least not about the old strains.. I'll post those current Nebula pics later today, as I get them out of my camera and uploaded.

Oolright, these are fresh out of the cam...

This is veg day 24. Maybe another week or so and I'll flip the lights. Just letting them bush out a little bit, and repot to the final 15ltr containers before switching to flowering. No nutes for a while, cause I think I'm just at the edge of overfeeding. You can see a slight burn at the growing tips. I think my soil is so rich that these babys can go thru veg with almost no nutes. Just keeping on repotting them...

One of the slowest vegers out there, can really tell its really inbread. The flowering is the fun part. You can see change in bud size almost daily. Fun plant to grow. Easy to grow too. If there is haze in this strain u can't tell at all, exept for the potency part thats only hazy part.

Repotted all the plants (Nebulas & A.M.S's) today to the 15ltr containers. I think I'll switch to 12/12 in a couple of days. Just let them settle to the new pots for a day or two. They are reaching the 25-30cm (10-11") mark, and I dont want them to get too big. You're right johnbobit, these are slow veggers, but really take off in the flowering phase

Thanks for the tip Mufflon, I'll raise the ph a little bit. I dont have a very accurate ph meter (one of those indicator tests), so it's a bit of trial and error until I get it right. Some of the Hesi nutes are also slightly acidic, so have to be careful with those.

amoril: great info on the strain lineage! You really cannot see the sativa side of this strain until in flowering. Looking very much like indica in the veg stage.

Updates coming in a couple of days..

Hi Polarbear, I'm amazed at how bushy and healthy your plants look. What is in your soil mix? Looks very peaty. Did you mix it yourself? If so, could you please list your ingredients and the approximate composition? I've been experimenting with my mix lately and my plants just seem to do worse with each grow.

Hi there darklands!

I use this standard bagged stuff for soil. But here in Finland we have quite good selection and quality in our commercial soils. This one is quite heavily fertilized, but ofcourse fully organic. I think they use composted chicken shit in it  the plants seem to love it.. Soil ph is 6.5

Some times I mix some fine sand in for extra drainage. I think vermiculite or perlite would be even better, but it's kind a hard to get those here (in the winter time). But this stuff seems to work fine even on its own.

I really cant help you if you use US brand soils, as I'm not familiar with those. Just make sure you start with small pots, and then repot in stages until the final container size. Building up that root mass. This way you minimaze the change of over and under watering, and feeding is easyer also..

Oh yeah, and the soil in my pics looks so light cause it's bone dry at the top.. I took the pics and watered right after..

Thanks for the reply, PB. I've been trying out faster soil mixes with more of a bark component, without much luck, so I'm planning to go simple next time with just peat and pumice. I'll be watching your thread, as I've heard great things about Nebula. Good luck!
