Papaya Closet

Hello everyone... i've taken of information from this site so now i feel it's time to give something back. I just got 10 Papaya Seeds from Nirvana. 10 points to Nirvana for their service... thanks guys.

I placed them in a glass of purified water overnight in the same room as my furnace so it's warm but not hot. This morning all 10 seeds had sank to the bottom of the glass so i put them in moist paper towel and into a ziploc baggie and then in a tupperware container (i'm being super careful). I have some fluorscents to sprout under but i'm getting a 400w HPS Son-Agro bulb ASAP with a cool tube.

I hope to harvest a little bit before christmas.... in the new year i'm going to have everything set up to grow more seriously... (maybe even upgrade to hydo but it seems like a hassle)

This is my first grow and i'm damned excited....

I'll post pictures as soon as there is anything to see.

I have grown papaya going on 4 grows and all gave excellent yield..lots of resin and they need to be tied up towards the end....good luck and i'll check back

Hey thanks for the support... i hope it turns out..

what is the minimum time you suggest letting them veg for?
i am under time constraints... i need to have the crop cut by like december 20th (ish) or before.... any suggestions

growth depends on the setup...higher the temps the more it will stretch...I like to get a few colas per plant but if one cola I turn around 18-24 inches....how about a lil more on your setup

Hey all....

8 of the 10 seeds germinated and I placed all 8 in a peat moss, vermiculite, pearlite, etc... mixture. I added a bit more vermiculite to the mix.

I have two seedlings that have broken the ground and expect the rest in the next 2 days. I have them in cups with drainage holes drilled in the bottom. I have the seeds that haven't broken the ground in platic wrap to maintain humidity. Temperature is a steady 77 degrees. I have 3 x 24" fluorescent bulbs over them. And a small fan blowing air straight up exhausting air from the top and passive intake holes in the bottom (the cups are in a styrafoam cooler with the lights just resting on top.)

Once the seedlings have their second leaves i will start them on a dilute 10-52-10 fertilzer, then as they mature put them on a 20-20-20 for veg, and a 15-30-15 for bloom.

I will also add a small amount of H2O2 to the water before feeding.

I will try to get some good organic foliar feed to spray on once they are more mature.

I am ordering a 430w HPS with a simple reflector. I will build a homemade 'cooltube' with a 'bake-a-round' and have the bulb's heat directly vented. I will also use that as an intake to vent some of the closet's air. I plan to have the closet sealed as soon as I get the hps. I will have passive vents with something like pantyhose as filters at the bottom and will see if that's enough.

I will post pictures once they have all come up. ( and i find my cord).

Any suggestions or help or need of clairification is welcome.

I doubt you will harvest before the new year. I have some futher along that yours and have settled on a january harvest.

There aint no way you are going to harvest anything by then, If you chop on the Dec 20th you just wasted 10 seeds. I've grown Papaya in soil, 30 days veg, 60 days flower under a 400 and you should get 2-3oz, good weed not great but a decent yielding strain.

the stresses were over come in fine form... plants are way better at growing themselves than me growing them...
















most of these are almost a week old.... it's just getting better and better... although a lot more stretching then i was hoping for with a couple of the plants...

Hello... so after all the trials and tribulations i ended up very happy with my first grow. I cut them a little bit early, it was unavoidable... so here's what i got...








Happpy new year and keep a look out for my next grow which will be WillyJack Jack herer, because it's a beautiful smoke... and Belladonna because i want some nice clones and a little weight to balance out the JH to put in the ground this spring.

I was able to try out some Papaya recently and I loved the taste and the stone. Maybe I should grow some of it......

I grew some of Nirvanas Papaya out a while ago

I actually just flowered my mom lol

I had two nice phenos....one was tall and stretchy, lots of limbs, needs lots of room. Classic christmas tree. Looks like its lanky and not going anywhere but then it just blows up in the last half of flowering. All those branches get used, the end product are frost covered large weighty fruity nugs.

The other pheno was like the first but not so much branching and stretch. Extremely large light green frost covered fruity nugs. Even more resin though, more "wet" in appearence. My keeper.
