I was wondering what the difference of reflectivity is between flat white paint and mylar. I recently switched from mylar to flat white paint and don't seem convinced that its that reflective... I don't know if its just cuz i'm baked shiny mylar just seems more reflective and I was just looking for your guys :2cents:

I dont know the exact numbers but flat whaite paint reflects about 90-95% of light and mylar reflects about 95-99% I believe. Mylar is definately more reflective but flat white is more just fine, gets the job done for almost nothing.

Yep thats the stats I've heard also, about a 5% difference.I started with mylar too,it seems after you grow awhile everyone switches to flat white because its just so much easier to deal with and looks better. If you have shitty refelctors its beneficial to mylar the inside of the fixture,I used high temp automotive glue on a couple fixtures

Yep, that seems to be the case ballast, I would say that the only reason you would need mylar is if you dont use a reflector, or if you cannot paint your walls. Besides that Id say flat white is the way to go. Best of luck to you chevy :D

Hey Heavy I've been using flat white for years and I say it's the only way to go. If it gets dirty no problem just repaint it. I've heard that if mylar is not totally clean and stretched tight it doesn't reflect as good as flat white.

I say flat white all the way
