It never left the state .. Was paid for in full . Got taken . Does the source split the loss or foot the whole bill ? Ethics , integrity ? Meh .. People suck .. Especially when they're "friends" .. Thoughts ?

bummer... Imo it depends a lot on the specifics and relationships involved (not having a valid return addy is a big mistake btw)....I know more than a couple people who've gotten in trouble with the mail. Too much risk if u ask me.
It's something that would be best to be agreed on beforehand... But since it wasn't ur gonna have to try to come to some agreement... Or chalk it up as a loss and move forward..

There's nothing to pm... The usps postal inspectors published an article (I read a thread on it here at icmag) on different criteria they use to red flag packages for further inspection..
The list was like 6 or 7 things.. The ones I recall where: overnight/express delivery, known source area (I.E. Humboldt, mendo, etc etc) to east coast, invalid return addy (not a real person or not a real addy), handwritten label and an "overly" taped up box.... There may have been a few more I can't recall).. If they notice one or more of the criteria they may pull it for further inspection.
The thread on the article might still be up, idk ?
Personally I'd advise against messing with mail for anything besides seeds... Because the situation ur in now isn't the worst possible outcome.

And I would say the fair thing is to split the costs 50/50 but it shoulda been agree upon beforehand.... An ya the shipper did screw up using an invalid return addy

i have to be honest on this one , if you order and the shipper ships . its on you . they did there part . if its contraband what do you expect .

if they are good enough to re ship well you got lucky . if its a requirement you don't want to take a loss if they get seized then research someone who re ships and use them .

i realise this isn't going to be popular , reality rarely is . why do you guys just assume the seed bank should be out of pocket ? i,ve had some amazing orders replaced but i expected nothing . when i ordered i rolled the dice in my eyes .

think it all comes down to who you use , and sometimes it takes time to find the right guys, if your using someone for the first time (not sure if this is the case , sounds like it ) then you rolled the dice in my eyes. also sounds like your assuming they made an error now , you seemed sure at the start of the thread . who,s to say they weren't doing some crackdown at the airport ect .

in saying all that i like a seed bank that is upfront and clear on there shipping policy , so atleast you know where you stand !

i,m not attacking you either , kinda sounds like it . but i,m not .

your view is floored , its contraband . they shipped it got snagged . if they don't reship , then you should have read the fine print . is it ideal ,no .

I get seeds through the mail..

[X] Shipping Option - Guaranteed

I have had seeds stopped by U.S. Customs and they had the Blue Tape and the letter.

The vendor always sent replacements:party:and I got them

IMO...
If you bought something illegal and the package failed to show up, for whatever reason, the responsibility lies within the purchaser.

However, if you are dealing with a quality vendor that cares about their reputation, they will resend your order once, maybe twice if the order was tracked and can be confirmed that it was indeed seized.

When dealing with legal products, businesses typically have insurance that covers lost goods so they have to resend items not received. I can't wait for the day that cannabis products can be treated likewise.
