Owning guns and growing .......

I have a question for the masses as I am not sure what the general consensus is on the topic. I know there are a ton of us out there that own guns and grow. The main question is what do you gun owners do with your guns at your grow locations?

I've got a crazy extensive collection but I do not feel comfortable keeping them in my home because I'm afraid if anything were to ever happen that LEO would castrate me for having guns and weed in the same location. I know why LEO gets bent out of shape about criminals with guns, I just want to know how you gun owners overcome the problem. Personally, I spend $140 a month for a storage unit (in someone elses name) to store all my guns except for the one I carry with me.

Personally, I never take a step without a loaded pistol. From the time I get out of bed to the time I go to sleep I have a gun on me, or within arms reach. I have a permit, so I am legally entitled to carry it with me, but that all goes out the window during a bust. I'm not to worried about getting busted with only one gun carried in a legal fasion, but many people seem to think I'm nuts for even going near my grow with a firearm.

To me, the situation is a double-edged sword. Ideally, you have no guns near a grow, but in that situation you also lose all your home security. Lets face it, theft is a major problem in this business- as I've experienced before, and it is something that would be far less likely to happen if a firearm were present. By not having a gun, you are in a better position with the police if a bust were to take place. However, no gun means no protection. If someone is breaking in to your grow you can yell and scream all you want, but you can't call the police, so what do you do?

I've been robbed once, and someone tried to jump me once. The robbery I couldn't have done anything about, I was in Europe on vacation at the time (can someone say 'inside job'), but the guy who tried to jump me will think twice about ever doing that again. His little stunt cost him a couple teeth a good deal of plastic surgery (at least from what I could tell.) A Springfield XD45 is a lot harder than someones face.....

I won't leave the house without it, and I wonder if I'm the only one... I'd love to hear from you other gun owners out there.

NOTE: If you intend to flame me for whatever reason because I want to exercise my right to bear arms, please move along. I didn't start this thread to hear your opinion on what is morally right or wrong, I started it to see what others who own guns do in the same situation.

dude i have to deal with the same issues. i used to be the same as you, armed to the teeth 24/7, 9 under my pillow, shotgun under the bed and so on. i live out in the boondocks and i'm the type that even if i was layin there bleedin to death in the heat of a gun battle outnumbered, i ain't callin the 5-0. but then i fenced in my yard, got some bulldogs, already grown, and have totally relaxed on my sense of security. i got one pistol left in the house and about to let my old man hold it for me. its just not worth the extra time in the sentence bullshit. to me bulldogs are a better crime detterent than guns. they see big ol' spot runnin around the yard with his buddy, but they can't see the hk in the closet know what i mean. i feel alot safer with my dog in the house @ night. he hears shit when i wouldn't like when i'm workin and i'm pretty sure he'd wake me up in case a fire broke out. can't do nothin about the inside job thing but nobodys' gonna jump ya @ your house again. and the jehova folks just go on to the next house. i'll never get rid of my guns and i do strongly believe in the right to carry!

In my state and many others I would guess its an automatic additional felony charge to commit any crime with a gun. Nothing was mentioned getting a discount for only using one gun.

Well my friend, i love guns as objects but hate thgem in theory. i do not own one because the state i live in has obsurd gun laws and i would never risk it. My question is this, so if you gun someone down who robbing your house, that all good and fine. But now if you gun someone down who is stealing your "drugs" thats no good; are you ready to do that? i would say enjoy the two seperatley and dont cary heat when your using, growing, or selling any controlled substance; cause you will not win no matter what the circumstances. an illegal gun in my state in man. min. 3 years, thats without drugs w/ drugs sure its allot more; and dam well should be.

no gun rule at the grow for me. Why? Because I don't want to do the additional years in prison for having them. Pretty fukin simple. You sound like you can do the additional time you'll get for having one so keep it and do the additional time if that day comes. I did years inside and heard everyones story. As long as you can do those additional years inside without whinning to everyone and feeling sorry for yourself for keeping a gun at a grow, then do it. You're the one that's going to possibly do those years, not me. personaly I carry a bigass bowie knife, more fun than a gun.

Yea NO guns near the grow.

As others said fence your property, get some dogs (if your willing to accept the responsibility) add security lights, get a large canister of bear spray and most importantly don't let anyone know you grow.

Just get some pitbulls

Great family dogs, smartest and most clever dog there is, most loyal dog there is. Raise em right and just don't baby them like a bluehair lady with a pursedog , and remember they are DOGS not humans, and you'll have the sweetest, friendliest dog that'll lay down it's life to protect you and especially your kids and attack the **** out strangers in your property.

Every kid I have, and especially every boy, will get a pitbull puppy to grow up with. That's kind of a southern thing, haha

I have a pit, not sure how good of a guard dog he is. If you go on the Pit forums, some of the breeders/kennels use Rotties and some other dogs for guard duty (australlian something).

Noone said how big of a grow this is. If personal, just a few plants, I would think no biggie. If commercial then I would say no guns. That is armed trafficking I believe

I feel that I should be able own a firearm for protection (just a small 9mm or something) even if I was growing. You never know what could happen. People get robbed all the time. Home invasions have been known to happen randomly all over the country. With crime on the rise in my city, I'd only really feel safe with a gun in my possession. If someone breaks in while you're home, chances are they aren't coming to attack you with pillows. A gun would really be the only way to give me a fair fight. Pure self defense. That's all I'd ever use it for.

ya i keep tryin to tell my pit that when hes gettin in the bed with me, and jumpin up on the lazyboy with me. ya echoes home invasions do happen randomly and i used to worry myself about it, but i bet the stats are pretty low on invasions to a house with a fence and a couple of pits. and they can't tack on extra time for growing and owning pits. yet....

with pits runnin the yard you can leave this on the porch with no worries, leave the doors unlocked, car windows down it don't matter. why sit @ home armed to the teeth waitin and preparin for a pillow attack?

you are most right about a double-edged sword. i think that having a gun would change my morals somewhat because i don't want to have to hurt anyone, but a gun has so much stopping power. plus if i was ever thinking about f'ed up stuff, the gun won't be conveniently located and i won't go out and do stuff i will regret. the other option for me was a huge ass katana, some throwing stars, and misc. ninja paraphernalia. another intimidating feature for a gun would be a silencer and a beam! they would know they are f'ed for sure if they try to mess with you.

My XD45 has a tactical light and laser on the rail so it works in the day and at night without having to carry a flashlight.

My MAC-10 is silenced, my AR-15 has an M203 grenade launcher mounted to it. Neither of those are any where near the house.

holy f*ck! you got enough arsenal to take out a gang! you know how most places have signs that say they ban guns on premises? can you still carry a gun on such said premises with your concealed weapons permit or do you gotta leave it in your whip or back at home? the beam lets em know what's up!

only 40 or so states have conceal and carry laws and each of those has different laws,. in your state koopa you may not carry a firearm in public without a conceal and carry permit, and if a business establishment or government building has a sign outside declaring "no firearms" you cant bring in guns under any circumstance. if you really want to live ruff n rugged move to vermont or alaska where you dont even need a permit to carry
